wow... makes the BMW look like a toy.

I just wish the Veyron was a little better looking, it's Only my opinion I know, but I think it looks a little like a jelly mould.. or maybe a squashed VW beetle or something.

Can't knock that torque though, and I would wager that driver wasn't even trying, what do you think ?

The Veyron simply could'nt transfer all that power onto the tarmac initially, but once it got going it simply blew the BMW into oblivion.
Always gonna be a non starter for the M3.

But it's one ugly beast the Veyron, the colour ot that particular one was simply hideous!

Welll.. the M3 shouldn't be worried that it gets spanked by an almost unique piece of engineering extravagance. See what it does to the R8 in this clip from the Autocar supertest a couple of months ago:

Now I'd like to see the R8 v M3.....

Looks like the Veyron driver gave the M3 a 2.5 to 3 second head start and then still caught and passed it within 5 seconds.

The Veyron wil do 0-100 mph in sub 6 and by 8 seconds the M3 would be say 85-90 so that sort fits if he wasn't really trying.

One of fav stories about just how fast the Veyron accelerates is this.

Race to 300kph (186mph) from standstill against the fastest Aston Martin available (at Veyron launch) the Vanquish S.

Aston gets given a very good headstart so that its already doing 250KPH when the Veyron starts....by the time the Aston gets to 300kph the Veyron has accelerated up to 300 and ALSO stopped...with 5 seconds to spare !

Steve Sutcliffe also said he was chasing one in a 997 GT3 RS on a narrow twisty mountain road, the sort of roads that would really be suitable for a big monster car. The way it disappeared into the distance when drive by their photographer made him look like a blind driver listening to co-pilots instructions.

Ugly yes but its not just a straight line hyper-powered device.

We would all love a ride or drive wouldn't we??

That clip is from the free DVD that came with Autocar....my Sutcliffe quote came from the magazine it came with.

This is hitting the nail on the head... lotsa people don't understand this about the Veyron... it's not simply about thundering the dragstrip or that top end... it's about tw*tting a GT3 RS around the B-Raods and the ease at which it enables you to do this.

I like the shape of the Veryon. Heavy - yes. Would I have one - oh yes.

But when you see them in the flesh and on the road they are MUCH smaller/lower/dinkier than you would expect from the photos. Really compact.

Stunningly capable and refined supercar, one your grandmother could borrow to bimble down to shops for more cat food ...

m3 i think will beat the r8, r8 is lighter but once rolling has far more trans losses compared to the similar powered m3

the m5 touring is actually quicker 0-100mph than the r8, which puts to bed quite quickly the

m5 saloon vs rs4 debate

i cant remember exactly but i had a magazine once which compared the veyron with the carrera gt and enzo etc, and the enzo i think did 0-125mph in 7 sec and the veyron had blitzed it by coupla seconds i think

veyron 0-186mph in 16.7 seconds
