which dvd is right for e90
I have the chance of buying the European DVD for the navigation system cheap. The seller says that it will work in an E90, but the disk comes from a 2005 5 series. How do I tell if the disk will work?
This is what he says: A BRAND NEW NAVIGATION DISK FOR THE NEW BMW 5 SERIES FOR ANY NEWSHAPE 5 SERIES WITH EITHER PROFESSIONAL NAVIGATION OR MEDIA PACK! IT IS THE VERY LATEST 2005 ISSUE 1 DISC |

I don't think that there is NTSC and PAL differences between the two sets.
However from what I understand, there are two versions of the nav system in Europe as opposed to one in the U.S. There seems to be a basica and professional in Europe. Its said that the U.S. model is equivalent to the Euro Pro one but you really should look into that in further detail as I am not certain of that. |

The US model 5 series does get the Professional Navigation (sometimes referred to as High). The 3 series will get the same.
If you are certain that the 3 series uses the same Nav disc as the 5 series, then this should work. Good luck! |

Why do you want to buy the DVD ? The car will come with one if you have Navigation
Are you in europe ? the european map 2005-2 has just been released. If you are in the USA you need the USA disk, as the European disk only includes roads in europe, and the USA one only roads in the USA. Each region gets its own disk Its a data DVD not a video, so there is not PAL or NTSC |

US spec BMW sold by military sales in Italy, Spain, Germany, etc. do not come with DVD's. Hence, $1800 option for the nav/idrive. I'm told by my dealer that the DVD for europe will be around 180 Euros/without tax.
