N55 exhaust on N54

Hi guys,

I just want to check something... I know the N54 exhaust is one piece, but I'm wondering, could I fit the n55 center pipes and x pipe? I mean, cut off the stock one and clamp the n55 in place.

http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...17&hg=18&fg=10

That whole part... will it just bolt up or?

Looking to get rid of restrictions, i.e. secondary cats.

I'm running a 2012 e92 N55 exhaust on my 07 e92 N54. Bolted up no issues.

Thanks, did you also do it to remove the cats?

I have a sedan, so I'm also looking to remove the ugly resonator and replace it with an xpipe... by the looks of real OEM n55 sedans came with an xpipe instead of a resonator...

Can anybody else confirm the n55 exhaust fits n54?

Cut my secondary cats out in Cali for Shift S3ctor because it smelled like catalyst on the dyno. Thought maybe the cats were failing, but come to find out they were fine. That only set me back $40. Then when I got home, no one would touch them to put them back in. Found one shop that quoted me $300. LOL For that I'll go to Harbor Freight and buy a welder and do it myself.

A buddy has a 2012 with aftermarket and his exhaust was sitting and I needed cats for inspection. (visual)

So let me get this straight, I can swap a n55 e90 exhaust for my n54 e90, and get rid of the resonator for a x pipe and lose the two rear cats.
Its all oem and bolts-up no problem. If this is true, I found a new project.

If you have catless downpipes, you will rasp like a motherfucker.

If you don't plan on getting catless downpipes, you'll like the better flow and throatier tone you're gaining from removing the secondary cats and resonator.

My understanding is that it's the same after the DPs (for obvious reasons) but don't quote me on that

So what would go with AR catless downpipes and the N54 PE exhaust or just a straight N55 PE Exhaust?

What are you defining as the exhaust? Down pipes back?
