Car door was dinged by a camaro, can I fix this myself?

My car was recently damaged by a heavy ass Camaro door and the dent is right along the raised portion/line of the door (not in the center like most dents)

I looked into a ding removing kit but since its on the contour of the line I think i'm screwed.

I called a body shop and was quoted roughly $500 bucks to remove this?!?

What are my options?

Anyone else have this same problem and/or a solution?

thanks

Doesn't look like it can be fixed by yourself. It's and intricate line, not a flat surface. It's not worth all the trouble to save a few bucks.

It hard to tell from the picture because it's close up, but it doesn't look that big. If it bothers you that much, get it fixed, but if it doesn't why bother? When my car got backed into, a new door panel, paint, glass, and tint came out to around $1700 if I recall right. $500 seems like a lot of money to pull a dent like that, but it's probably the time it takes to fix it. I really wouldn't try to fix it myself unless it was on a flat panel. Just my opinion.

Look into your local JCs and see if they have automotive repair courses, and if they offer body and paint classes. If they do, why not have your car get worked on, but tell them to not paint it, just prep it. Then get it painted by a professional shop.

When my Mom's Jetta got a good sized door ding, she went that route. It was free of charge, and the students actually did a terrific job, since they were being graded as a project. The car was then painted by a local shop, and it came out perfect. Of course, her car is black, so matching and blending is relatively easy.

I had a ding similar to that (mine was about 3-4 inches long), I found a mobile dent removal service on yelp, called them out and they pulled it out. Theres no sign of there ever being a dent there. Cost me 120.

Yah PDR is what you are looking for. I had a ding removed from a mobile guy that cost $40. But my ding was in the middle of the door, not on an edge. Expect $100+ to get this fixed.
