Morning,

Got the 2014 CCC update last night. Worked great at first however about 25 mins into my commute my CCC just crashed and restarted. Not sure if its caused by the 2014 Maps or not, however never happened before until I put the 2014 maps in. I was using the 2013 maps before. Anyone else using the 2014 maps in CCC having a similar issue?

Thanks

When you burned the disc, did you burn it at the slowest speed possible? CCC units have always been a little buggy. But it could be the DVD laser is working too hard to read the disc, the DVD drives are a little sensitive.

This happened to me twice today. I have had some issues reading discs in the past, but the drive never crashed and restarted before.

I'm using CCC and haven't had any issues. Put the disc in yesterday. I would bank on it being your disc as well and method of burning the iso

Dealership visit isn't required. You can follow the DVD instructions included with the map download to make a set of 3 DL-DVD's to use to update the maps.

Pre-Sept09 builds didn't have the firmware to update maps over USB. If you've ever had your vehicle serviced anytime after Sept 2009 where they updated the software on your vehicle, then you have the ability to update via USB as well as DVD.

ok now I understand, I'm downloading the 'north america premium' torrent files right now. I doubt the software of the car has been upgraded as I never complained about any software issues... what version would I have to check to know for sure

You can use the attached torrent files (remove the txt extension) or you can use the magnet links below. Just download the torrent and head to your favorite person to acquire an FSC code.

If you aren't sure which one you need to download, shoot me an email/PM and I'll help you out.

Also, anyone who purchased a 2013-1A code from me during the month of September/October gets a free update for the 2014 maps. Just shoot me an email/PM!

I can handle FSC codes for CIC and NBT types of Navigation systems (CCC doesn't require an FSC code), just shoot me a PM or email at dracon@gmail.com

If you happen to have a map I don't have yet, let me know. You'll get a free FSC code for uploading the maps!

Are there "significant" differences between the 2014 and the 2013 maps? I've already got the '13 maps and wondering if I should go through the effort to upgrade.

I noticed the 3D map errors were fixed in my city.

I did the upgrade because I like knowing it is the most recent version available and will cut down on errors I see when I use it. I use mine frequently so it justified the 50 bucks for the FSC code.

Some are; some aren't. Read the very first post. Your 2008 navigation system is the CCC system, as opposed to CIC, and you would want the professional maps. You don't need an FSC code. You would just make DVDs of the ISO images obtained through the appropriate torrent. Ask me how I know

Are all three parts equal in size? Can I use an 8GB USB?

Also, what's that number above "Road Map North America Premium" in the navigation version screen?

Yes, it's possible to use a single 8GB stick, wiping it and copying the new contents each time. Although, I would double check your flash drive can hold all of USB2 before starting. Some flash drives sizes are different after formatting and USB2 may not fit on those drives.

You can't turn your car off between USB sticks, otherwise the car will ask to start with USB1 again. So make sure you either have the engine running, or connect a battery charger to keep the battery from going flat.

The number you are referencing is the version number of the map data, where Road Map North America Premium XXXX is the version name.

Thanks for the clarification. I did read the first post but I couldn't find the reference that the older navs were CCC.

Thanks to all for seeding. I'll do my part also.

You wouldn't know how long it will take to load the data into the car would you? Are we talking a quick trip around the block or a long drive? Just want to try and plan the upgrade.

Takes about 15 min per USB, so 45 min total. I did the update for our two cars (a 2009 and a 2011). I did one while driving (had a laptop with me to move files around on the USB as per the instructions) and did the other car purely on battery power. Both updated correctly.

Thanks Dracon!

No problem at all. Didn't mean to come off cheeky. I know there's a lot to learn and know about these things Yes, 2008 nav systems were CCC. It was in 2009, with the LCI, that they started using CIC nav systems.

Agreed about the seeding. I've been getting some pretty kickass speeds on my cable modem--up to 2.5 MB/s down and 500 kB/s up!
