I'm with you, that's why I asked my question earlier. I don't mind a bit lower, but I like the center of the wheel to appear to be centered in the radius of the wheel well. If there's too much gap for taste then it's time for larger diameter tires at that point and ignore the speedo.

I have kwv3 on my 2009 335ixdrive, plenty of room to go higher or lower from here. I have 12/15m spacers -1.8 degree rear camber -1.3 front. No fender rolling no rubbing, stock tire sizes 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear. Handles great. Car feels very stable over 80 unlike stock where it's very floaty. Still needs upgraded f/r sways though IMO. Here's some pics of the drop/how flush it is with the spacers

Nice, that's pretty close to what I'd be looking for. Regarding your alignment, are you using plates or M3 control arms? Or did the lowering affect your camber that much all by itself?

Thanks guys. I have not adjusted the compression and or rebound yet bc I have been lazy but I definitely would want to tweak it a bit for more performance oriented driving like a mountain run or something. I have kwv3 on my 300zx tt though and I have adjusted them quite a bit and It makes a tremendous difference and the ability to adjust compression and rebound independently really helps with dialing in the perfect setup. I have not added any adjustable arms or camber plates or anything yet. Yes the allignment was affected by adding the coilovers as it would any time you adjust ride height. Stock setup there is no adjustment up front for camber so this is pretty much how it was when I lowered it nothing they could change up front except toe.

Yes... A 2 finger gap is what I now have. I started with a 1 finger gap but found it too low and unforgiving. While I did like the improved steering being lower, I did not care for how the car felt. It was way to jarring and could literally feel every seem in the road. The steering remind me of my old sti, even though I felt the cars vibrations in the floor board. It also looked really good being that low, but not practical.

With a 2 finger gap the ride is more like stock. The floaty feeling on the highway is still gone but the steering is clearly not as precise. Expect body roll to only improve slightly. Also there are low speed parking clicks and clunks, though not that bad.

After my alignment I have come to realize that I would have went another route if not for all the praise for the kw v1s. Looks are great, floatiness is gone, but handling leaves something to be desired with this coilover set up. My old old car was a 2006 wrx with stock shocks and swift springs blows away the kw's. I would have tried the koni with swift spring setup if they were out at the time.

personally i would say go v3 over v1. i dont like the idea of being stuck with suspension just being 'how it is' especially in an aftermarket setup.

can you expand a little on your last paragraph? do you think the handling would be better with the v3s or with another setup altogether?

what exactly do you find laking with the v1?

thanks

I have no experience with v3s. But I feel as if v1 is how the stock xi suspension should have come from the factory. It is a comfortable setup with a modest drop, but I had higher expectations as far as handling with these coilovers.

After spending time driving a friends golf R, I am comfortable saying that his stock suspension handles better than my v1 setup. From the way it turns into a corner, to how the rear rotates. Its definitely feels a lot more neutral.

I think you have the right idea. I too am not one to skimp on upgrades, especially suspension. The v3 has a lot more tweaks compared to the V1, so if money is not an option, spend a few hundred more for the V3. Many xdrive guys here use them for weekend track days so..

I got a ride in Jeff's car and I was extremely impressed with the handling and ride comfort. I was gonna go with V1s but discovered the V3s are probably worth the extra money.

I feel like the V1s are perfect. You can fiddle with settings all day without any handling improvement (only feel improvement) if you don't know what you are doing.

I just don't like how eibach and/or h&r looks. H&R has the reverse rake. Eibach doesn't have any rake, it's even. I need to get some coilovers
