Air filter for our cars from BMC

Amigos as usual me investigating, if you see the link and scroll down to 335d DPF its says were supposed to have 286 hp:

Yeah thats Euro spec and honestly, i think our engines stock produced close to that # of horsepower but BMW of NA just advertised it as lower.

Euro engine programming is set to 286 but WE in the other side of the pond were detuned to 268 that's 20 ponies less and around 40 lbs/tq less also

actually the euro version made about the same tq number, the ratings ive seen are from 425 to 428 (compared to our 425) so basically the same. I think they range because people who write magazines cant convert nm to ft. lbs. The number should be 428

Euro engines were rated at 286 horsepower and 428 lbs/ft of torque.
NA engines were rated at 265 horsepower and 425 lbs/ft of torque.

thats 19 less horsepower and 3 torques less.

The reason I say our cars still have close to those #'s is because people who have dyno'd their cars stock, report baseline horsepower numbers of around 230 which equates to the 20% driveline loss of a 286 horsepower motor. Where as a 265 horsepower engine would be putting down more like 210 horsepower at the wheels. BMW has always underrated their engines. The N54 powered 335i was rated at 300 horsepower but in actuality it was putting out over 315 horsepower at the crank stock.

Like I said, I believe BMW under rated our motors on paper.

Very true my car cranked 230 whp before RENNTECH. I test drove the 328i and man I was impressed I hv heard it was dynoed at 277 stock
