How to add a 2 step onto a automatic car

Ive seen it done before, my friends scion tc had it... but i was wondering how can this be accomplished....

What do you need to buy and what do you need to do...

Im assuming you need a WOT and wire it to the brake so when the brake is pushed the 2 step activates to a set RPM and the second you release the break you can pass that rpm???

I want to add an electric slide to my auto

Rev limiter to keep revs consistent for launching if I'm not mistaken. Foot to the floor first step activated revs stay at certain RPM

Pseudo launch control

A 2-step is basically a secondary rev limit set at a lower rpm (launch rpm) when you flip a switch. it's usually activated by the clutch, and when you drop the clutch, the engine is allowed to rev back up to it's normal redline.

so if your perfect launch rpm is 5000, you set your 2-step to 5,000rpm so when you activate it, and hold the clutch in, you can floor the gas, and it will peg the rpms at 5,000 and make angry flatulent sounds as it is bangs on the limiter.

As soon as you dump the clutch, the engine is allowed to rev to it's normal redline.

It's basically an rpm launch controller.

on an auto.. cant you just brake boost. why would you ever launch from 5000 rpm... flatulent rev limiter bounce appeal aside. Op try this. Hold the brake firmly, press the gas to about 2500 rpm. let go of brake. Send what ever funds you set aside for this mod to the charity of your choosing.

Won't that mess up the torque limiter?

I think it's manual only, and I'm pretty sure everyone who commented didn't read anything I know how a 2 step works , you obviously need a clutch but people have retrofit it onto automatic

Might wanna look into stall converters maybe (I could be completely wrong)? I know they offer them for Trailblazer SS's etc but I don't know if they wold work with our trans. IDK just something to look up.

Im not looking for the launch control.. im not trying to do launches with the 2 step, i just love the sound it makes when your rpm stays steady.

You could use a small micro controller like a pic or arduino to do what you want. Our gas pedals are essentially a big variable resistor. Have the micro-controller map out the lower and upper limits of the gas pedal and set it to a certain percentage within that range such that it revs right at what you're looking for it to rev to and have it activated by a push button switch. Just a bit of a electrical engineering.

just record the sound of a rev limiter bouncing. then put it on a CD/MP3/whatever and blast it loud at every red light.

I was gonna start explaining a stall converter until I read this:

Agree with previous posts; don't think you can program a 2step function with an Auto. I'm guessing maybe if you managed to get it to activate in Neutral but at that point it's just a cosmetic thing so you can rev and pop? I believe the thing you would be looking for is called a "Trans-brake"? Correct me if I'm wrong but this is what is used for launching with a Automatic transmission. I don't think there would be a way around this one for you though because, well, you have a bmw that these options for launching won't work unless you got a Standard transmission. It may work on your buddies Scion, but the Scion is far less complex of a vehicle and some things may work on it that wouldn't fly for a second on a BMW let alone any German machinery.

Just brake boost, all your torque is down low anyways since you're turbo'ed.
