Spring Compressor in CO?

Does anyone in the Denver area have one of these style of spring compressors?

http://www.ecstuning.com/ES2093755/

I have the traditional two post screw type ones, but they just don't work for the stock springs on the front of the E92. They just can't grab enough coils to get it compressed enough to get the mount on without being in the way of the mounts. Its a real pain!

Would be willing to drive to use, I already have the struts out of the car. Would be willing to pay some or bring a 12 pack of your favorite beer.

Already installed camber plates, but they have been very noisy and shouldn't be, so I am reinstalling. First time I did it, I also had the same problem with the compression, but I was doing it with the struts still installed in the car. To remedy that one, I just bolted the plates into the car, and then jacked the strut/spring assembly into the shock tower. But this required a lot of shoving and positioning of the strut to where I think it didn't seat properly and may have been a cause of the noise. The manuf. of the plates also sent a retrofit kit for me to try as well.

Oh, also couldn't take the struts out before because I didn't have a spreader for the steering knuckle, but I bought one to do the job right this time. Figured with the shocks out of the car I would be able to get it all compressed, but it just wasn't happening, even with two sets of spring compressors!

I found a guy a tire shop that said he would help me out, thanks though!

FYI, coilovers would be easy because the springs are a lot shorter, its the OEM springs that are a bitch.

Racey, I did mine with the trad 2 post ones. I used a jack to compress the springs and then used a cordless power drill to tighten the two compressor posts (back and fort) while the springs were compressed by the jack. (The jack did the work.) Just be sure you have a good "purchase" on the spring. Scary stuff when you pull that spring out, regardless of what type spring compressor you have. I treat them like a loaded gun.

Hmm, well already have them out of the car, and one completely disassembled so will probably take them into the guy that offered his services this week, but thanks for the suggestion. Might have to try that in the future.

Alex, did you ever try reinstalling the OEM springs, or did you install the KW's when you did the job? Taking out is no problem, its the reinstall that's giving me trouble.

I never had this problem in the E34, but this one is giving me fits.

Just FYI, looks like I wasn't the only one with this problem

Sounds like the way to go is to get the strut tube pulled out in some manner, I think that is the biggest issue. Ugh, oh well, struts are out of the car at least so I can bring them into a shop and don't have to fight it again.

Did you get the mounted Craig? If you want, you can drive down to me and we can have them done on a safer spring compressor.

Craig, almost forgot to reply. I never did reinstall the OEMs, only the KWs. I could see where that could give you trouble, even KW springs were tight with the plates on top taking up vertical space.
