E90 VIN decoding?

Does anyone know how to decode the VIN number of a UK E90?

Took the car to bodyshop last week for new bumper. But somehow the supplier to bodyshop got the wrong type of bumper for my VIN code.

I reckon the cocked up when quoting the VIN number. Out of interest does the VIN number show its an M sport?

On my last car, it showed the colour of the fabric hood fitted when it left the factory.

Some basic info on VIN decoding here, SK.

Online VIN decoder available here.

All the best.

Thanks for the info viv I did have a hunt around but it wasn't that detailed.

With regards to the search tool it doesn't look too detailed.

Vehicle code: VF72
Series:E90
Model:320si
Body type: saloon
Catalog model:ECE
Production date: 2006 / 07
Engine:N45
Transmission:Unknown
Steering:Right
Catalyzer:YES

What's the vehicle code and catalog model refer to?
BTW i've removed my VIN info just in case....

Bit strange it doesn't know what transmission I have - Seeing as there is only one option??
