Code Reader in DC Area

Hey guys, I've been looking to buy an AccessPort in the DC Area and can't get my hands on one until next week at the earliest from sonic tuning. My 08 335xi threw 2 engine malfunction messages and they went away after restart. happened once 2 times about 3 weeks ago. I want to see if I can pull a code to find what the issue is and want to see if someone has a code reader they'd be willing to lend me for a few hours or if you have an AP i can use to pull the code. I know I can get it pulled from indy shops and bmw but why pay 100-150 bucks when I can use an AP to do the same and more. If anyone wants to sell theirs please let me know.

Do you just need to see what codes are cuz any code reader (auto zone) will show you that, and those are free or do u need logs etc..?

I just want to be sure I can find the exact reason why that message came up. I'm sure that's not very likely but I figure it can point me to an area that I can look specifically into. (Turbo, spark plugs, ignition coil, etc.) if one of the autozone ones would work and anyone has experience if appreciate your .02.

Yeah, just go to Advance Auto Parts or Autozone. OBDII codes are standard. No tool will tell you with 100% confidence "Fix your upper Johnson rod".

That "Upper Johnson Rod" has been messing with my 335 forever.. Let me know when we have an install-able fix

Thanks everyone for your help. Especially David for taking time out of your day to help a fellow member out. He pulled the codes for me. It was a vanos solenoid, turbos off, and other code. Waiting for David to send the exact codes to me. I'm meeting with the stealer ship to see what they'll do to correct this.

sent them yesterday - FYI your third code was just cause you unplugged the exhaust.
