Can someone confirm that changing the crossover back to what is descriebed in the manual (and not what is labelled on the cable), will fix PDC and GONG to normal level?? that goes for both radio Proff and CIC ??

Thanks

The crossover in mis-labelled. If it is not connected as described in the instruction sheet (sheet is correct), it will not sound properly and it may damage the tweeter if radio is played loud. This apply to Professional radio and CIC.

I have a 2011 E92 with base stereo and navigation/bluetooth. After reading this entire thread I see that the solution is to follow the instructions about the wires being mislabled. Does the head unit need recoding or not? I am planning on installing this myself this weekend.

6/19 update

I completed the install in a little more than 3 hours. I think it sounds fine. I don't think coding is necessary. I went to my dealer and they want to charge $275 (1.5hours labor) to do it. You can't make a mistake installing this yourself. The connectors only go one way so you can mess up the crossover harness wiring.

In my case, it was not an alpine upgrade, it was aftermarket stuff, but the process is the same as that used for the alpine. (i.e. HU recoded to HiFi works with all aftermarket stuff).

Thanks...I may go that route as well. The base system is driving me nuts...it just sounds so terrible.

I just installed the retrofit kit into my post 03/09 e90 335i. I have the problem with the subs being overworked and the gong being too quite. I was wondering instead of having my car coded at the bmw dealership, if installing my aftermarket pioneer indash would eliminate the problem of the subs being over worked, since I can control all audio through the settings in the indash?

On many (all?) retrofit kit, the crossover is mislabeled. The diagram in the instruction manual is correct.

Thanks, still curious to know if I install my Pioneer indash in my car will coding still be neccesary? I dont think my crossover is messed up, the sound is exceptional. The only problem I have is sometimes there is too much power driven to the subs. I'm assuming from I've read on other posts that the issue will be corrected through th hifi coding.
