black mats in beige interior

When I collected my car, I was advised to put beige velour mats into my beige interior car. The dealer said most people in Ireland go for black mats at the beige ones always look dirty with all the rain we get here. I took his advice.

Well, there's something not quite right about the black floor mats. They take away from the whole light, airy interior look. I am thinking of switching to

- beige all-weather rubber mats for the winter
- beige carpet mats for the spring, summer

But they are not cheap. Am I mad?

Ditto here. Takes the fem edge off of the beige interior.

The black BMW rubber mats look great with the beige interior and they are durable. The black rubber picks up on the black of the dash.

My other car (my wife's car) has a beige interior with beige mats. It looks good, so when I ordered by E90 I ordered the same combination. But between order and delivery, I saw an E90 demo with beige interior and black mats. It looked much better! So I quickly changed my order. Trust me...black mats are better with beige interior (rubber or carpet mats).

I understand the perspective from a dirt POV - but I just don't like the way it looks.

You are not mad and I beg to differ with other posters so far. I have the same setup as you are planning and quite happy.

That's what I notice with the black ones currently

- the look dirty anyway
- they look odd with the beige carpet,, like an afterthought
- I don't see a tie in with the black top of the dash. The dash graduates from black -> brown (wood) -> beige from top to bottom
- the interior footwell lights look much better with a light colour carpet mat

I took out the black mat from the passenger side and left it like that for a few days and I thought the beige continuity looked a bit nicer.

It's your choice at the end of the day.

In my old car once removed (2 cars ago) I had a beige interior with beige mats. They would get BLACK within a few days of having them cleaned, and it would just drive me insane. I switched to black mats, which I thought looked perfect...and was very happy with them.

IMO, I think black floor mats with a beige interior looks really nice. There is too much bright yellow otherwise. However, at the end of the day "whatever floats your boat".

I have black mats with beige leather but my car is the m-sport model
so it comes with anthracite headlining, so i reckon the mats fit in well with the look. If your headling isnt dark then beige mats would look well imo.

As an aside, I would love to have a two-tone beige interior. I'd like a two-tone just like Terra and Lemon, but with beige instead and with anthracite headlining. I think that would be way cool.

Invest in a bottle of 303 spot cleaner and 303 fabric guard and they will be relatively low maintenance...that stuff works wonders.

Have the beige interior and the black mats. Really like the contrast!

I've had the pleasure of owning e30 convertibles, e36, e46, and now my e90. They all were beige interior, save one e46 coupe, and I have used black mats in them all. It just pops with BMW's

Do it. Why would anyone put black mats in a beige interior?? Doesnt make any sense to me. My humble opinion. Some guys use rubber mats all year long too???? Don't get that either. to each his own.

Hi,

This is obviously a very subjective thing. I have black mats and I think they work very well aesthetically to tie the color of the dash to the floor. To my eye, when one looks down into the car, the floor should not be prominent and black actually offers a sense of more depth. I didn't go this route for the dirt aspect.

But, that's just me.
