UUC SSK for E92-93

Does anyone know when the short shifter for the E92-93 from UUC will be available?

Have you tried switching over to a shorter/weighted shift knob? I was going crazy looking for a SSK when I first got my car, but after switching over to the oem M knob I really don't think there is a need for a SSK anymore. Just some food for thought.

A $10 knob does not replace a short shift kit. Have you ever even driven a car that has a short shifter installed?

UUC should have the short shift kit in the next week or so... I spoke to them this week. Those who have put in a shorter BMW shift knob, it doesnt do anything compared to an actual short shift kit that reduces the distance from one gear to the other not a placebo effect like the knob that is 1" shorter than stock...

Great!!! I am checking their website daily. Can't wait to get rid of this mushy stock shifter. I had a UUC in my E46 M3 and loved it. Get the DSSR with the shifter. Definitely a "must have" mod.

that's weird cause I called last month and they said they don't plan on developing the SSK for the E92/93 for a long while.

Oh, thanks for the enlightenment. I know the difference between a short shift kit and a countersunk shift knob. On my last car, an s2000 (which probably has one of the best gear boxes of any car in any price range), I had both a short shift kit (axialflow) as well as a countersunk voodoo knob. I tried multiple combinations of the stock shifter with different shift knobs as well as a SSK with different knobs until I found the best combination. So, yes, I know the difference.

I also know that the feel of the stock 6MT in the E9X feels like GARBAGE. The throws are way too long and the gearbox overall feels extremely rubbery. After changing out my shift knob/boot with an OEM M knob it feels 100 times better then stock. I no longer feel the need for a short shift kit in this car now, and I wanted to make this point so you could consider another option at least until a SSK comes out. Have you ever tried a shorter weighted knob on this car? I was giving you some advice from my own experience, not talking out of my ass.

Here was a pic from my s2k from when I had a SSK and countersunk knob installed. In the end the best combination ended up being the SSK with the stock knob, but the countersunk knob with the stock shifter wasn't too far off, and it also vibrated way less.

Its not a placebo effect. If you drive a stock E9X 6MT it feels like crap. Drive one with a shorter weighted knob and you can feel a very significant improvement. Will it be as good as a short shifter? Probably not, but to say that it doesn't improve the feel of the transmission is far from true.

That's a great book. The smaller knob makes a little difference. Bmw now offers a ssk for the e92, a couple people on here have it. I think i'm gonna give the B&M a try. Some say it fits, some say it doesn't, I guess i'll see first hand in a couple weeks.

both the B&M as of 2 weeks ago were NOT e92 335i compatable out of the box. the B&M required shaving the lower end flat, and the OEM BMW one was not listed in the parts catalogue for the e92 335i.

Look through this forum, maybe on the next page, but someone on here has the bmw ssk on a 335 coupe. As far as shaving the b&m, i've only heard of this once. i guess we'll see, but then again, i have an e90.

+1. My S2000 had a similar type of knob.

i know the post you are talking about, i had it bookmarked before i had to wipe out and reformat my system. although he had it in a e92, from what i remember it wasnt a 335i. i think it was the 328i coupe ( still the e92 ). i could be wrong, but i read that post over and over and the guy never actually stated he had a 335i, just that it was an e92.

i would love nothing more than to be proven wrong here. i am dying to get a ssk. the stock throw suck big time. i replaced the shift knob with a uuc one which i love, but its still a long throw.

UUC has a SSK listed now for the E90. I am going to call on monday and find out about availability for the E92 and E93 which I have. I will post if I find out anything positive.
