Fortune Auto Coilovers for XI
Hi All,
Been exploring options for lowering my 08 335xi sedan for a while now...I noticed that fortune auto makes a set for the xi models. I have searched high and low without any results, with an exception to 1 thread that didn't have any relative info. The link below is the application list that shows "e90 AWD", at the bottom. http://www.fortune-auto.com/500series.htm I emailed the company just to confirm that the application guide is correct. I'll be placing an order if it is accurate. Fortune Auto is still relatively "new" to the market, typically more popular with the Japanese cars. I came from the Nissan world and plenty of people ran them. If i am correct, I believe that Broadway Static uses the Fortune Auto coilover with some custom casing and parts...so it is a decent set up for the price. The coilovers are anodized, so it should prevent rust. They also have the camber adjustment plate...so price seems reasonable. Let me know if you have experience with these...

My buddy has a set on his EVO and he loves them, couldn't find them for the XI when I bought my BC's but would have probably bought them if I could.

I heard back from Fortune Auto that they do make an XI set up. I will be ordering these in a week and will update here.

Whoaaaa, you get dampening and camber plates for $1349?? Dude, eagerly waiting for your review, I may hold off on the KWV1. @Nismo G, have you owned or rode in a E9X with the KW for a base comparison??

You have front struts? What are you using for the rear?

Did you buy only the front 2 shocks/coilovers or did you buy a whole set and just never installed the rear? What was the reason for not installing the rears, if you did buy the whole set?

I only purchased the 2 front struts. I originally had tc kline SA front struts but they weren't low enough for me and I didn't like the setup. So I kept the DA rears and purchased the FA struts.

How many miles have you put on them so far? Did you have to get adjustable endlinks? I also read your post from the old FA thread that the strut bar can't be used with these?

I don't know mileage, but I have had them installed for 1.5 years now and 2 winters with no issues. The oem strut bar can be used if you make a spacer for the mounting points, but I switched to an m3 strut bar.

I am just getting ready to purchase these and then it dawned on me that I really haven't thought about camber adjustments or alignment adjustments? Given that I still don't know much about the BMW world, hopefully you guys can help. I know these have camber "plates" on the mounts, but in all honesty i don't know how these work. If i plan on lowering the car (let's say 1-2 inchs) will I need any kind of camber or toe arms for the rear?
When I lowered my previous car (G35 coupe) you could almost sneak the front camber to "within" spec, but the rears required aftermarket camber arms, unless you wanted that extreme negative camber look, which i hate... With that said do we require anything additional to keep the alignment within spec with coilovers? Thanks!
