Front End Alignment in LA

My son's 06 330 is getting four new tires and needs an alignment. He normally takes his car to South Bay BMW. They want almost $400 for an alignment. That seems expensive. Is there a non-BMW shop that you would recommend for an alignment in LA or Orange County? Thanks.

Goto West End Alignment! They are in the South Bay... 110/Vermont.

Darin is the owner. He is one of the best in L.A.

18008 S. Vermont Ave
Gardena, CA 90248
310.808.9233

Need an appointment though. He is very busy but good.

There's also Johnson's in the San Fernando Valley.

I think alignment and corner balancing is about $220 or so... He will also do it with you in the car to adjust for your weight.

+1,000,000 on West End. The downfall is that you have to make the appointment a week in advance or so because he is jam packed.

He aligned my car for less than $100. I think it was at $80.

Yeah... if it's just alignment, it shouldn't be more than 100.

He's good though! wj4 and I and a whole bunch of others have gone to him. Both my E46 and E92 have been done by him.

Does your sons car have active steering?

Having that option drastically increases the cost of alignment (and what's involved to do it)

Slightly off topic, but often do you guys get your car aligned? How do you know when it's time (besides your car pulling obviously in one direction on a flat road)? I'm coming up on a year in my 328i, and the steering still seems pretty precise around curves (e.g., minimal corrections needed). Is that a sign that I don't need one?

Thx,

-Dan

Depends on how anal you are. My friend aligns his car every 2 months or so. (Of course he is getting it done for free because he bought the lifetime alignment deal from Firestone). I'll probably wait until I hit the 1 year mark before realigning again.

Sounds like your car is still okay. I wouldn't worry unless your tires are wearing unevenly or if you feel your car is pulling. Even if your call is pulling on one side doesn't mean it's your alignment. Could be uneven tire pressure too...
