Just finished the install and found this when doing the oil change. Big Sad

Looks like I'll be doing an engine rebuild.

Up Next: Darton sleeves, upgraded pistons/rods, bearings, cyl head refresh.

3/13/20

After installing the 19 row oil cooler it became apparent that the ducting wasn't going to cut it. I just recently picked up a welder and figured what better time to improve my welding skills!

My hobart handler 140 mig setup. What an absolute CHAMP of a welder.

Started by mocking up the bumper side, then the cooler side.

Making some adjustments before designing the fog light recess

Now to convert the card stock to metal!

Now that the fog light recess is done, time to stitch up the rest

Now to make some mounting brackets

Fits nice! But need some weather stripping to close the gaps and keep it sealed.

Time for some paint

Decided to put a Mishimoto sticker on it to rep my 19 row mishimoto cooler

Picked up Cameo 4 vinyl plotter, thing is sweet! I can't stop making stickers lol setup my office to do that and 3d printing

Fits awesome!!

Now that's done, time to get the bumper put on for good along with the front lip

Also had to modify the fender liner a tad

Last thing couple things, re-installed my WMI system, added some black carpet under the sub and installed my halguard automotive fire extinguiser

Ready to rock and roll!

Also thanks Sean for the dope gauges. Can't wait to install these soon.

Next up, direct port WMI, new tune, and rear end overhaul

1/13/2020
Finish Re-Assembly, Engine Bay Paint, Front Bumper Test Fit

After buttoning up the engine and cooling system, I found out the water pump was bad when I tried to bleed it

Well after going back in there, draining the coolant and replacing the pump, finally time to put everything back together.

Cooling system purged, oil system primed and the car fired right up! Took it out for a test drive to make sure the new turbo ducting, oil cooler and cooling system mods are holding up. Went great!

Finally able to clean out my garage.

Now for the front bumper, belly pan adapter and fender liners.

Ducting looking good

Mocked up and looking good, time to do a little trimming and rivet together.

Fits like a glove!

Now the front lip

Ready for the vinyl shop Winning Window Tints and Vinyl in Maple Heights, OH. Max and his crew are pros!! Very few people I let work on my car and they are one of them.

Next I decided to do a little painting.... Painted below my new intake, a small rust spot on the alternator and a random bracket.

Before

During

After

Next up, direct port WMI! And then a rear lsd and suspension overhaul

8/27/2019
Summer Update 2 - Quick update - Oil Cooler and Intercooler

Started mocking up the oil cooler lines, thermostat and bracket

Got the engine mounts, subframe and downpipes put back in so can finally take that engine support bar off

Now time to get this huge ass VRSF intercooler in place.

*some trimming required....

Back to the oil cooler. Mocked up, installed and fully plumed!

Next I trimmed the oil cooler and brake ducting and mocked up the bumper. Finally starting to look like a car again

Next up is to purge the air from the coolant system, prime the oil system and start her up. Turns out my battery is toast so buying that this week... stay tuned!

Summer Update - Engine Bay Re-Design

So after launching my car over a hill and smashing stuff up on the landing, I figured what better time to go to the next phase of my engine.

I tore it all down and decide to re-organize my engine bay. Hot side intake, outlets, coolant expansion tank relocation, upgraded oil cooler and thermostat delete plate, radiator, intercooler and ..... direct port water meth. You know, because its not fast enough already

Current State of affairs and some highlights

Before I get started, I was lucky to have a couple great shoots before the mess up.

Also shout out to Revolution Performance for the sweet job on my exhaust tips which needed some love

Before

After

Install Pics

Now back to the latest install. After taking SOOOO much stuff apart I was able to get access to the turbos to do inlets for new intake and outlets.

Had to modify that sexy ECS heat shield to fit the huge VRSF outlets

New Intake test fit

Coolant expansion tank upgrade

wire extension routing

plugged in and overflow drain line routed next to brake line.

thermostat to expansion tank hose

Next steps are to re-install the engine mount, downpipes and subframe, new radiator and cooling system wrapped up. Then on to the new oil cooler.... stay tuned.

1/18
Gloss Cosmic Blue Wrap

The car was done shortly after my last update however my other side angel eye ring fell off It has finally been fixed and I now have some proper shots of the car. Enjoy!

some pics with the other angel eye falling off

I ended up using more epoxy and this time around some fishing line to mechanically secure the ring to the headlight this time. Its hardly noticeable and is working great.

It was also fogging up big time in the rain. I ended up getting this butyl glue from The Retrofit Source which is the TRUTH. Now no more fog and the ring should stay put.

https://www.theretrofitsource.com/mo...lue-51999.html

Here are some progress shots of getting the wrap done

I had them ghost in some goodies

"WINNING" *the name of the vinyl shop

"335i"

Wrapped the scoops, part of the intake duct and the cf lip

Some finished shots!

Back to the vinyl shop for some windshield tint and a temporary WINNING sticker for an upcoming show. (shortly after is when the angel eye fell off )

All in all I am VERY Pleased with how this came out. If you are in north east Ohio, Max at Winning Window Tints and Vinyl is the best in the business.

Now back in the shop, this time for some maintenance. My power steering pump starting making an awful knocking sound. I thought it was rod knock for a minute until further diagnosis. (happens every 7 seconds in the below).

Turns out my power steering pulley was partially broken... the out balance caused the pump to fail and it was also going through belts...yikes. I upgraded to a metal Hamburg Technic pulley and new pump and she is back on the road.

So winter is now here and I am starting to hoard parts again.... The next round of installs will include the following

-Finish fitting new 19x11 wheels (raise up rear, shave and roll a little more)
-Turner Coolant Expansion tank relocation kit
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-turner-m...021942tms13~a/
-ECS Drilled rotors w/ EBC Pads
-ECS Stainless Lines and Pentosin SuperDot4 fluid
-Blue G2 caliper paint
-Replacement CF Front lip (hit possum )
-CF big fin rear diffuser
-ECS Black 4" exhaust tips
-VLed Fog Light bulbs (4700 lumems )
-New phone mount for iphone

Should be a good start to 2019! Stay tuned

8/21
Its a wrap - Part 1 (bonus footage: race against FBO Audi S3)

For people following my build, you know this has been a long time coming. Well the time is finally here! Installed all the body panels and brought it up to the body shop where I will help wrap the car. So far this is where I am at!

Some bonus footage of my car racing a FBO Audi S3 in mexico

On to the build!!

First things first... Suspension parts
-SPL Titanium Toe Arms w/ eccentric bolt lockout kit
-ECS Trailing Arms
-Powerflex Trailing arm bushings

These should help me keep my toe in check and have to get alignments less after doing lots of launching.

Unfortunately the bushing was so seized into the knuckle I was unable to press it out looks like I will have to wait to install the bushings until I do my subframe bushings and diff when I have everything in the rear out.

Hey at least I have some upgraded arms for now

Next up was to start disassembling the car and start installing the body panels...

I had to extend the wiring a little bit on the side markers... they are going to get wrapped black though and will have 335i stickers so they should look nice

Next I had to dremel my belly pan down to put on the adapter so it will mate up to the new front bumper. Damn this came out clean!!! It actually looks a lot nicer than the factory setup

New wheel peeking out

Fitment is reaaaaal close (19x11 et34)

From my last post, my passenger ring fell off even after 3m tape AND gorilla expoy

So I had to tear apart the lens again and re-epoxy, this time with some different epoxy. I also put a small piece of fishing line on the top and bottom to REALLY hod it in place

Everything is in!

Last step was to install the CF front lip

On my way to the body shop I stopped in to get a MUCH needed windshield replacement. C Auto Glass is legit and it only cost me $215 w/ rain sensor.

Now she is all tucked away at the shop in good company, waiting to get started

And finally a preview of the wrap color We used a flash light to capture the small color change

Part 2 coming soon!

Feed Continues on Pg2

Did manual trans fluid, diff fluid and coolant. The downpipes sound amazing with my muffler delete...

2 step, dp fix and jb4 Bluetooth connect installed.

Messing with the 2 step, decided on 3000 rpm as a target for launching

Thanks guys

I bought the CP out of this kit and got the HKS to Tial adapter. They no longer sell the CP separately though I must say I really like the bov placement, plus it comes with 2 meth bungs
