Nav map updates dropped in price at dealers
Hi all
Just for info. Was in my dealer recently for something else and they're advertising map updates from $249. Not bad! When I asked him about my car (E90 LCI), he said it was $169 ! Not bad at all! |

Mate, you can do map updates for $50us from a guy on the forum who gives you the fsc code and a link to download the maps
That price drop from BMW is still a rip off |

How do the map updates get into the car? I thought the vehicle had to be connected online at a dealer (to stop pirating)? My maps are on the harddrive unit I think.
If it works on the LCI updated navigator (professional), could someone please PM me or email me the contact for the US$50 download? cheers |

I got the 2016 maps from the dealer a couple weeks ago for my lci e93. Was $150ish for mine as they update the hdd, they said it would be $100ish if you use a nav DVD. Was very happy with that.

Got mine for like 70 bucks last year.
Easy process, don't use the dealer Link provided above, there is two big maps sellers in the forum, either one works, same process and price |

If someone can give me a copy, I'd be more than happy to upload it somewhere |

No Mine is a 2012 CIC retrofitted
Just need a USB stick and plug it into the glovebox slot and use I drive to update the new map It will ask first a 20 digit FSC code.

I never really bothered updating my maps as I just don't use them since our cars don't have internet capability to provide updated traffic information. Googlemaps on my phone mounted to vent still king for me although I wouldn't mind updating for cheap! |

Which online provider did you get your code and map update from? And, silly question, but how do I know whether I need CIC or some other? Mine is a 2009 build with the 'widescreen' iDrive. I'm pretty sure I have the CIC, but one of the weblinks above shows something called "NBT 2012" which looks similar to mine. That same site says the CIC is 2008. Does that mean 'from 2008 onwards'? Comparing the prices on those 2 sites, the first one seems much cheaper. Were there any other tips/issues with using uploading them through the glovebox USB? I guess the car needs to be on a battery charger while that's happening? cheers Last edited by satz; 05-30-2016 at 08:43 PM.. |

I'm confused by the info on the bmwnavirpro website:
IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ: If your vehicle was built 03/2010 and later, or cars had firmware updated after 03/2010, the USB option is recommended. If your vehicle was built between 09/2009-03/2010, you will need a firmware update to update using any method (USB or DVD) due to a bug in the firmware. You are welcome to try, however the update will most likely fail at 93.7% and abort updating. If your vehicle was built before 09/2009, you can use the DVD version of the update to load the maps into your vehicle. It’s firmware does not support USB update. Mine's a 2/2009 build but I'm 99.9% sure that it does not use the DVD to update (because my CD/DVD player has not worked for 2 years and I did have my maps updated at the dealer last year) |
