Northern Rock ???

I have no affiliation with N Rock but keep getting this nagging urge to buy some shares

If you beleive the papers, Branson is set to buy it for 1 billion (before the shit hit the fan it was worth 120 Billion)

Yeah, its kinda tempting, but probably not a good idea. It will be worth no where near its original value and although its normal to pay 20% or so as a premium over the current stock price when buying a company, that won't apply here. Basically Gordon is desperate to off-load it and Branson is probably the only way, so if there is a premium it won't be much and they could drop more in the meantime.

They'd probably be better off nationalising it, stabilising it, then selling it on in 5 years but I think they've had enough.

Just checked northern rock at close

NR at close today 94p up from 67p on friday adds up to 46% rise third highest % rise on ftse today

ftse took its biggest fall since 9/11 today,im so glad i cashed in my isa when it was in the 6400's,that put me off of stocks and shares for a bit.

I do a lot of leveraged margin trading, and as far as i am concerned, northern is a gamble. There are easier ways to make money on the stockmarkets, just short overvalued stocks (for now).
