I get #1 occassionally. I've not noticed 2 or 3, but I've only had the car a month, so I may not be attuned to that yet.

#1 often feels like a dead spot in the accelerator. From a stop, you push into it with no effect, then suddenly it takes off. Other times, it's perfectly smooth using the same pedal action.

Thanks to everyone for giving feedback. The goal here is to make sure these issues are presented at the next months BMW round table which is starting point in escalating resolutions. Please add to the issues if you have variants of any of them.

#1 for me, no #2 or #3. I deal with it #1 in 2 ways - moving quickly through the dead space on the gas peddle from a stop, or shifting to M1 at stops which eliminates the problem and reminds me I should have bought the manual.

#3- I have this problem too, i wouldn't call it a problem but it is very annoying at times.. But you have to get used to it, and know that these BMW's have to be driven with a certain finesse. Other than that I love the feature as well the brakes, damn car stops on a dime.

Had major problem with downshift clunking and brake grabbing/sticking unpredictable today. Went to go home from work today and threw all kinds of brake codes similar to the post below.

Not sure if it ius all related but worth noting a possible connection:

Reviving the post

I got my car in mid-January. I really getting #2. A major jerk (like getting hit from behind) when the auto-trans shifts from 2nd to 1st in the moment before a complete stop. It is actually happening when the car is warmed up, but not when cold.

Anyone else?

#3 bugs me. IMO the brakes are unpredictable and not very linear. Sometimes it assists with more authority than others. It makes pedal modulation hard.

Also there is supposed to be an anti-fade system, that ups the boost pressure so no matter how hard the brakes work, the pedal feels the same. Un-true. I can induce very noticlably fade and pedal mushyness feel with just 1 or 2 hard applications from higher speeds.

I dont like the braking system on the 335I , to me after some miles and the brakes are not new anymore, the pedal has too much pedal travel, not firm enough, and not enough clamping power unless deep into the brakes.

I like my brakes to be "RIGHT THERE" when I press on the pedal. I miss that about my Corvette and S4, both had very quick and powerful brakes with a nice firm pedal. Some call it sensitive brakes, but I call it "perfect" for a performance oriented car.

#1: Felt it happen 3 times today for the first time!

#3: Been feeling this for a while. Wasn't sure if it was a defect.

Hey Orb, did you have these issues resolved on your car?

08' October build. I get 1 and 2 occassionally. I've gotten used to it already, perhaps because the transmission is otherwise the best one I've ever owned. It's so refreshing to have a car with an auto where there actually is a discernable difference between standard and "sport" mode. The "sport" mode on my previous Mercedes C class was a joke.

Mine was acting strange and to make a long repair storty short, it ultimately needed a new torque convertor and a then new computer control module.

I have all 3 problems. #1,#2 and #3. I've mentioned these issues whenever I have taken my car in, but every time they check it out, they say there's nothing wrong they can find, and its just normal. :

#3, but yes, I believe it's normal. My car starts in 2nd gear when in D, 1st gear in DS, it's very smooth.

BMW calls it "comfort mode" Less stress on the car.

Need to resurrect this. My Jan 2008 build E92 335 has been displaying symptoms of #3. I'd consider it new car jitters but this morning I literally had to get out and check my rear bumper. The brakes held on so long that I was literally smacked back in the seat. It's not the converter because I was on a slight downhill grade. I released the brakes, and when it would normally being to roll due to gravity, it stayed and stayed and stayed until all of a sudden BAM! I could hear the brakes let go (that hollow metal sounding grunt) and I felt like I was rear ended.

My real question is, will this go away as the car gets broken in?

with 07 335i here.
Only 11K on the odo.
#2 - As I am getting to know the car better, I have notice this more and more lately (the feeling is exactly like jerky downshift).
#3 - once or twice (most of the time, they are pretty consistent. However I accept the fact that the 335i brake is somewhat overboosted and makes it harder to modulate the brake to come to a complete stop smoothly).

Regardz,

J Irwan

I'm new to this forum, just saw this resurrected thread. I'm experiencing all 3 of these issues with my recently purchased 2007 335i. Taking it in tomorrow for oil change, shaky headlights, speedometer off by 5mph. I hope they also fix whats listed in this thread. Was the fix a software upgrade?
