Yeah a manual 330 should have no problem beating a g35. Esp if you launch like that. I think with my auto it would prob be dead even with the 330 walking away around 70-80mph. I wanna see some of your videos! let's get g35, is350 vs 330i.

someone with a g35 coupe, Auto and manual and an is350 need to step up. Ill get the camera rollin.

I don't do the shifting in my parents' E320, I just let the auto do it...it seems to be much better off than when I'm shifting. I suspect DS mode will have the same benefit over doing it manually. But there really isn't anything that can unlock power like a stick. Perhaps SMG. But I prefer to have a clutch to work myself

Considering my daily commute, I got an auto. I thought I'd probably be better off with a stick in a weekend car or something rather than my daily driver. But I'm not at that stage of life yet to have a 2nd car.

With the traffic becoming the way it is here on long island I went with the auto myself for my commute. Whenever I want to have some fun, I just pop it into d/s mode and the car behaves like a totally different beast. I dont even bother shifting manually anymore, d/s mode is much more fun.

As much as I like my sister's E90, my G35 Coupe 6MT is simply faster. I'd put money on any race stock for stock against any non-M 3 series. But the E90 is the overall better car in my opinion.

Its kinda hard to explain, you just have to practice. its brutal on the clutch too. So the rev up and droppin ght clutch method is a little better but also if u rev and just drop it at 3500 or 4000 you will spin like crazy. Feather is more of a feeling out your car type of deal.. When you do this basicly. Dont do it often but to practice the feel of your clutch, just put it into first gear. With out touching the accel at all. Start slowly letting go of the clutch and figure out where the friction point is (where and when the clutch starts to engage) Once u feel this friction point. and get good at where it is and stuff. You can quickly blip the throttle to 4000-5000K and right when you get on the friction point at 4000K wait till you are about 35% engaged into the clutch then Pull Step on the accel and let out the clutch completely out. Its hard to explain online and its brutal on the car. but its the most efficient way to launch with minimul wheel spin. I have to get my Gtech Comp out soon when it gets warmer and do some runs too. I had the Gtech in my 330Ci and the MINI at the drag and it was off by like 0.01-0.05 off on its calculation. So its amazingly accurate and the 0-60 times are also accurate. Maybe ill post up a vid soon on this method of launching.

I totally believe this story. My friend the other day drove my step 330i and was VERY impressed. He drives a stick shift g35 coupe and he was very impressed at how quickly the engine revved and he told me that this car felt just as fast as his coupe. He is switching over to BMW and loved the d/s mode so much that he's currently debating between manual/step for his new 330i. Yesterday we decided to race each other to 100mph and i beat him by about 1.5 car lengths, then we did it again and that time i beat him by 2 car lengths. I felt so proud! I dont even care about the 335 coming anymore, this car is amazing!Never trusting magazine numbers again and btw i think he's gonna go with the steptronic.

Im just letting it out cus I have some friends who kept saying "you shoulda gotten a G35". It really annoyed the shit out of me. Yes I know it's faster, but I drove one and didnt like it at all. It sure looks nice on the outside, but it just didnt do it for me. I seriously dont care if the G can go from 0-60 in 4 seconds. Shoot the IS350 has 306hp and can out run the E90 any day, and yet I bought an E90 instead. It just drives me crazy to see how many E90 vs IS vs G35 threads there are.

Good point, if you want a fast car with plastic Altima interior then the G35 is for you. Better yet, if you want a faster car with cheaper interior then try WRX STi or Evo MR.....fast 0 to 60 or quarter mile isn't everything

Point well made, but an STi or an Evo would rock the e90 in nearly any performance aspect. Interiorwise I see where you're coming from, but those awd 4 bangers can handle and dish out the straights as well.

they are only good 0-60.. the sti is slightly faster uptop on a straight away. A stock e90 vs a stock Evo at like 60-80 is like dead even then, the 330 starts to walk...

I agree, even with the increased horsepower which seems to be getting higher every couple of years.

There is no fcking way the current E90 can stand a chance with G35 or a Fairlady Z. The winners and losers were the drivers , not the cars.

Where do you get this information from? Not trying to start beef with you, but I would imagine the EVO crush's the E90 330 at any speed. Regardless, i'd take the E90 anyday.
