Hello Everyone,
Here is my update... So I spent the entire day at the dealer and according to the tech the software was updated. As soon as I got home I checked if the iDrive CIC controller worked with the update and well it did not. All functions are there accept the scrolling, which I need for it to work. My build date is 01/06 e90 325i, and I don't believe that its ever going to be possible to get this mod done. In any case I am selling the following which is what I bought for the mod: -iDrive controller CIC $115 shipped ($195 new at the dealer) -Bracket for controller $15 shipped ($15 new at the dealer) -Wood Trim Console for CIC controller $150 shipped -Wood Trim Console for CIC controller w/ Ashtray $185 shipped -Wood Ashtray trim $55 shipped Good luck! |

I posted this in another thread but figured it was more appropriate here. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Need some advise. 1. I have a ccc without the 8 keys and is still the old firmware (brown screens). I installed a cic controller but it only lights up (no buttons work and no scrolling). 2. The dial seems very stiff. It does turn but seems like force prevention like in the old controller. Is this normal? 3. will the cic controller only work if I have the 8 button version and upgrade the ccc firmware? I read somewhere that the new controller only works with newer firmware and if the ccc is the newer one with 8 buttons. I don't really want to spend money upgrading firmware if I still have to upgrade the hardware. Edit QUOTE |

re ccc without the 8 keys. I've seen posts where quite a few state they seem to have issues with 2006 or earlier vehicles (ones I guess that has the powered feedback) having no success trying later controller.
I saw one where he swapped pins around and left feedback disconnected, but I doubt it worked. I think you may well have the real issue. Although I've not seen it documented. I think if you have the 8 configurable button head unit and CCC then a complete firmware update of the car (integration) should let you use later controller. Although I'd like to understand how that lets either old or new ones work. If you have an earlier head unit I think its game over. You should not have feedback with early one button (2007) or later 8 button (late 2008 on) controller. I thought only 2 button really early ones had any feedback. There's no mechanism for the later ones to have any resistance other than the springs inside which give constant feel. Mask2 can be made to work with either but not both. |

Apologise if this is a stupid question. If I upgrade to a later 8 button ccc unit will it already have the newer grey screen and upgraded firmware and cut out the need for me to upgrade the software on my car? Or will I still need to upgrade the ccc firmware when it's plugged intoy car?

CCC is old widescreen unit.
If its got 8 buttons the firmware should be on the grey menus. It doesn't necessarily mean it'll cope with the later controller and all non orig kit to the car has to be coded to get it to work. MASK with later map view (late 2007 cars to circa aug 2008) CCC CIC you can make later controller above work with them all (as long as its not stupidly early and or with force feedback controller to my knowledge |

Aside from the ability to have the new controller what other benefits the software update (grey screen) provides? Would appreciate a first hand report from the guys who've got the upgrade. |

mine was the MASK unit, after update from orig grey to latest software still grey
some hidden sat nav software was updated and the DAB menu changed ever so slightly, I would expect like most updates lots of silly errors you may not have noticed go etc. Never went back to check where my nav lost the plot but as u see here a fair bit of the behind scenes stuff got updated http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=932965 |

Hello guys. So just to bring this topic back up.....I have the 8 buttons on my 06/2007 e93 with ccc. Which cic controller do I need to buy for the upgrade as I've seen some with a CD button on and also with a MEDIA button on?
Many thanks in advance. Last edited by adrian.k; 08-10-2018 at 07:48 AM.. |

Hi again folks . I've just fitted a cic controller with my ccc and all it does is light up. My car is a June 2007 325i e93. The part number of the control is 65829267955 and it has the MEDIA button on rather then the CD button. Hope someone can help me please?
