Legal Euro Style License Plates

How many of you would be willing to pay a little extra to have LEGAL european style license plates? I was having the discussion with a friend who is looking to purchase a 135.. and he is trying to petition in NJ for this.. afterall when you look at the bumpers on german cars, the front and back is made for the wide european plates.. and in many cases the plate in the front comes down into the grill area and gives it a buck-tooth look (ie. 135 with the M bumper)..

Just trying to gauge interest.. sorry if this is in the wrong forum.. but trying to target as large an audience as possible!

Thanks

That would be cool to have a rear plate. But in states where you have to have a front plate, not sure that would really look too good.

Not all states require a front plate, FL for example allows no front plate and no helmet for bikes!

Darwin takes care of the bikers without helmets, organ donor associations clean up after them. Front plates, that's another story and been beaten up pretty bad.

I would like to have a euro plate in the rear, I have no front plate (illegally) But CA would never allow a euro plate.

No front plate in chicago. Most of the time my car is in a garage, so I'm willing to take the chance. Front on the e92 looks to good to spoil it with an ugly Illinois license plate.

Good luck in trying to get NJ to approve something like that.
NJ takes lots of pride in their plates, why? i don't know...

Do you guys remember when NJ took NY to court because NY had the Statue of Liberty on the plates?

Well they claimed the Statue of Liberty belongs to NJ since it sits closer to NJ then it does to NY.

Well they won, and hence the new NY license plates.

Euro plate in front will NEVER happen. Petition all you want but this isn't Europe.

I wish we could put a sticker in the window with your plate number that you would pay $$$ extra for to not have to put a plate on your bumper. Then we would be happy and the state would too after those bastards make a shit load of $$$ off us.

the idea has been brought up many times... but the truth is, its not good enough for them speed cameras they set up to trap yall.

but the government wants to play big brother. sooner or later, they will have chips in all our cars regulating our speed, giving up our location, etc. we go 5mph + the speed limit? hah! ull just hear a beep in the car and bam, ur credit card just payed for the ticket automatically... (thinking along the lines of sunpass/easy pass).

It was related to Ellis Island, and not Liberty Island, so I don't know why the Statue of Liberty would be involved in any way.

Easy there party pooper. No way will that happen! If it did what's the point of getting a sports car? Every manufacturer would consider stopping the producing of sports cars since you cannot drive them in the states. Then it would affect you because the US is the worlds #1 buyer of, yup you guessed it, sports cars.

Now if the rest of the world wants to keep buying sports cars you would still need to fund R&D. But sales would plummet because of the exclusion of their largest market meaning your new sports car would be ridiculously overpriced. Car manufacturers would either stop making them altogether or they wouldn't be anything as good as today becuase of R&D cuts or they would be so overpriced you would need to win the lottery to get one.

There, now I've pooped on your party too.

That would never happen in Chicago! I am envious and at the same time surprised and astonished you can get away with that. Does AZ require front plates? Is that something in the books that let's you use those plates? I'm a little skeptically that its actually legal but I've been wrong before.

Fortunately AZ doesn't require front license plates. So I figured my Zoll plate would nicely cover the mounting screw holes from my ED trip (now the Welt uses doubleback tape for mounting the front zoll plate) and looks better than a chrome plate with the BMW logo on it
