Hello,

I'm not sure about how the MTEC kit works however our kits come with a relay harness to power the ballast directly from the battery or a 12V power source. This is necessary when installatin a kit in E90/E92 vehicles. On some models (depending on build date) you do not need this harenss however a full proof way of installing the kit and not getting an error code is by using a relay harness.

Hey Zal,
I installed Mtec kit in my halogen to xenon mod, and works pretty darn good, no error, and pretty nice beam. Check this tread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=84882&page=11

The problem with the E90/E92 when it comes to HID conversion kits is that on some cars the kit will work without a relay harness whereas on other cars it will not work. As a result, we include a relay harness with all our kits. This ensures that no matter what the kit will work on the vehicle.

I bought just the housing without the ballast and bulbs from a seller from Phoenix. Andy wants 1k with housing and bulbs/ballast but it has the error free mod to it. I bought mines for 520$ shipped and I just need to buy an HID kit for it. If xenondepot doesnt throw out error then that will be 210$ but if that one doesnt work then I would have to get the MTEC hid which cost 100$ more.
If you have the HID KIT instead of using OEM BALLAST AND BULBS you wont get errors, but you do have to use the right HID KID.
