SIRIUS RADIO - HOW MANY MONTHS FREE ??

My 330i was delivered on 3/28/06.
I was told by my CA that there was 1 year of free service: 3 months from Sirius and 9 months courtesy BMW. Does anyone know the truth ? The VERY polite idiot I spoke to at Sirius had no clue when he attempted to set up my account 3 times before getting it to work.
(Love Sat radio now, by the way)

Joseph

You get 1 year free.
When I got my car I called up Sirius and gave them the radio id. Once they enter the radio id, the Sirius CSR will see that it's 1 year free.

NYCE90DRIVER - you sort of called it correctly when you said the "idiot" at Sirius - I've been a subscriber for 3 years on another car and at home, so I was just adding the new Bimmer to an existing account. When I called in to Sirius to activate the receiver, the operator I spoke to was not able to determine that my car was authorized for any free service, and he insisted that I would have to go back to my dealer and have them contact Sirius. He did activate my radio though.

I next talked to my CA - he was almost as clueless - wasn't even sure if a Sat Radio that was factory installed qualified for the 1 year free service. Then he called me back to say that he had verified that yes, it was, and that I should call Sirius back and to MAKE SURE THAT I WAS NOT DEALING WITH AN OFFSHORE SERVICE CENTER. This ended up being the key - as the original operator had an obvious East Indian name and accent.

I called Sirius back during daytime hours - and spoke to a Supervisor - who verified that the original operator had signed me up for a 2-year new service agreement ! - at a cost of $192, and that Sirius had already invoiced me for it She kindly reversed the charge and gave me the 2 years service for free for my trouble

So, when it comes to dealing with Sirius - you really need to escalate it to a Supervisor to get it handled correctly.

You definitely get 1 year free...when I activated, the customer rep insisted and sold me on the 2 year extension at about $150...so I am good for 3 years, although I just found out, I should've gone for the lifetime package as this includes 2-3 free transfers...
