Expensive Repair

So my E90 is out of warranty, and the driver's side rear door power lock does not work. The door can still be locked / unlocked manually.

Called the Dealer, and assuming the motor / actuator is busted, I'm looking at a $500 repair.

Wow.... any advice?

You go to the stealership, you get jacked. What's so hard to understand?

RMP or Bimmersport.

+1 and +1..hahahahathats right, you can import the parts yourself and then have those shops install for you..prolly less than $300 all together...actually you can prolly even DIY it...ive taken apart my doors before and the mechanism looks prety straight forward..

tricky part is playing with this gooey black noise dampener they have..its uber icky sticky

noise dampener????

The locks are so loud as it is.... they really need to send their QC and NVH engineers to Japan for a year.

I was essentially asking for who you'd recommend as a alternate to the stealership... Bimmersport is close to me.

So would the process be $80 for a quote, order Tischer parts, and then $80 to $160 for the repair?

They are $80 hourly, this can't take more than 2 hours to fix.

i believe they will only charge you a quote if you dont get it fixed there...if you do, then they take it off the total..can anyone confirm?

also try some junk yards....there are a couple wrecked e90's around toronto...ive seen them myself! dunno which ones they went to tho

Yup.... 4 years or 80,000km

Unfortunately, I'm more at the 2 years / 105,000km mark... LOL... hopefully, E90 ownership doesn't get too pricey going forward.
