If this thing is beefed up, wouldn't it throw off the neutral handling the car is already dialed in at? If it's NOT beefed up and it's purely for aesthetic purpose, is it worth the money?

I would want one if I had an xi for sure, to further control movement from the additional weight and drivetrain pressures on the front wheels.

Looks like many here are not sure what the functionality is for the front strut brace. I've had many of previous cars and what it really does is make the front end of the car much more crisp when dipping into turns. I'm sure the OP'er will chime in with his thoughts.

I think there is more to this brace than one can see in the pictures, I think the pieces link together, in to each other in some way because one bolt doesnt give any rigidity. Bolts only keep parts together and pieces link into each other and give rigidity. This is not a fact but i really think so...

From experience the strut bar seems more for looks than function. The E90 is already stiff and handles well in corners with very little body roll. I see no purpose for the AC model and if I were to buy one it would be a one piece bar made of alum or CF. Haven't seen bars that only have 2 bolts for attachment.
