WTF is the fascination with rusty hubs? Is it really that big of a deal or is it like some brit slang term for something else? Because a little rust on the brake hat isn't that big of a deal really.

And I know its your wifes car but get a re-map - totally tansorms the car - blisteringly quick - Its how it shold have come out of the factory.

And as CC says above, one of the best alround cars Ive owned also

Sat nav was retro fit from ebay £380 and sold the stock radio £180 .I am not sure of latest spec but am aware its £1500 option and i wasnt paying that .

Who does maps for gti ? ottinger .This is the third gti we have owned all red 3 dr versions but the last two were years ago late 80s and early 90s .bomb proof and i love them

I paid £19400 with 18" monza and heated leather the latest 08 spec i think it all happened a bit quick ,£2k discount and i sold the wifes Mini for £9k cash .I only paid £14k for that and it was 39 months old we got about 65% of that back so quite pleased .

Good modification having Sat Nav fitted for a few hundred pounds.

How are you finding the Golf now you have put a few miles on it? I have had a short drive in the Octavia VRS about 18 months ago when the new one came out. The engine had a great torque range from memory and I was very impressed with how it went.

I went in a VW dealer this week to get some screen wash for my Fabia and spoke to the salesman about the Scirroco being released in September. They have no final details about the car yet (very soon) and it will be availible in September with the 2.0 litre Turbo engine to start with (would be my choice anyway).

I think you have got a great car there for sub 20k, fun drive, reasonable size mpg and residuals.

To be honest we just rushed in as usual and bought it without a test drive or anything ,I looked on the web and built a new mini with a few bits i wanted it came to £19200 the local dealer said they would give me £10 k for my mini so price to change was £9200 .Then thought about the shit service i have recently received with paint defect and rusty hubs and decided to stick with my word no more money for you w-----s.

We saw one in the local car park and decided to buy one build quality is at least on par with the mini proberbly better feels much more heavy ,I ended up with buying from manchester as they had the car in stock to my spec and were happy to give me £2k discount much higher spec than the mini i was considering only £200 more at £19400 .Sold the mini yesterday to a young girl from scotland she was real cute and i was happy to sell it to her she is a mini fanatic just sold her cooper she has had for 8 years the old style one for £9k properbly could have got a few quid more but like i said i was happy with the deal .

I may get this chipped but not at 1130 euros rediculous .I quite like the gti and have done 500 mls in it in two weeks thats a lot for me normally do about 60 a week ,But due to work comitments and time im doing 30 mls a day for them at present and the drive back from manchester its now run in nice ,My wife claims to have thrashed it ?? im sure and is pleased with how it goes.

I wont knock the mini it was a good trouble free car apart from the confusion with the TLC service arrangments but that was down to the local dealer being f useless .Mini fetched good money but i must admit i keep all my cars in tip top shape and always get a bit more than average so no suprise there .

I have been told by several people i have made a big mistake with the wheels they suffer corrosion and from kerbing .First sign of corrosion im in for a explanation from VAG dealer .

So to date well pleased with the GTI

I have the oettinger map on my S3, and it wasn't the money you are on about. I had a REVO map on my GTI, along with a full Supersprint exhaust and filter and it was good for 250bhp or so.

Yeah, Oettinger are very expensive, and not totally worth it IMHO. Revo, APR or Custom Code. I think Simon (e-maps) does the GTi, but I might be wrong.

Lots of new-comers as well P-Torque, RS Tuning etc.

They remap shockingly well...

Edit: GTi International at Brunters next Sunday, there's usually discounts and I know Custom Code will be offering 40% off.
