Go to Home Depot and buy the 3m exterior all weather tape with the red backing. Make sure to apply it on a warm dry surface. I used a heating gun just to be sure.

If you buy 3M moulding tape at Napa (or another auto parts store), it is narrower, and easier to work w/ than the wider tape at home depot. The tape appears to be the same material, just different dimensions.

I installed my roof spoiler last month and it still hasn't flung off yet. 3M should be strong enough.

The key is that the surface must be clean , dry and warm. You should also apply some heat to the tape on the wing. I've used this a few times with no problems. If you are mounting a Hamann wing , the wider tape from Home Depot is better.

^wow good info, would u recommend that i sand down the hamann wing? the bodyshop painted the entire thing including the bottom where the tape would go. is it safe to just leave it painted and use the tape, or should i sand it so its rough, OR should i sand all the paint off so that the wing's material is exposed?

I left it painted. I heated it well before applying the tape. I ended up using a full roll of tape. Ran 3 full strips across. After applying it on the wing. Heat the tape just enough to see it slightly wrinkle on the red removable part. Heat your rear window up slightly and you are ready to go. I apologize for not doing a write up. I thought people had this down. If anyone in the San Diego area needs help , you can PM me.

One more thing. I have seen cases where this tape refuses to stick well on carbon fiber . I have no idea why.

hey guys...my body shop is about to install my carbon roof spoiler but with windshield glue. he said once its on there its never coming off and if it does its gonna destroy the window grommet. Is it supposed to sit on the rubber seal or just the glass? im very worried about this because i dont want to destroy the window seal when i take it off

Cautionary tale: I had my AC Schnitzer roof spoiler installed at a body shop. The guy used the windshield glue to nail the sucker down. He told me that the thing will never come off of my rear windshield. Six months later, when I was working on the car for some other reason. I noticed that half side of the roof spoiler lifted off the rear windshield! I just yanked the whole thing and it came off without even leaving a residue.

just use the 3m tape man its not a big deal to install it and easy enough to take off when you want to have it off

Theres alot of 3M tapes out there, after all 3M is an adhesives company. You'll want the stuff that is labeled "VHB" and they also have this for automotive purposes.

Here's the VHB used to stick emblems on: http://www.uline.com/Browse_Listing_6036.asp

The VHB tape is known to be stronger than rivets and sometimes welds, but its only going to be as good as the person using it.

Wipe surface with rubbing alcohol and make sure you are not installing this in freezing or cold weather!

not true, after you put it on just keep it taped down for 1-2 days and it'll be fine. Mine kept coming up on one end until i taped it down with painters tape for 2 days and now it's perfect!
