Yeah, in the long run I don't think it would be worth it..

I think a swap is a great idea. I recall an old article I read in sport compact where some guy put the old e46 m3 motor into his daily driven 325i wagon. Cost was fairly high, but hell could you imagine the fun factor in rolling on a new 335i and pulling on him...hahahah that would be awesome. I say go for it.

Incidentally I just got off the phone with a rep from Turner and right now they do not have anything for the 328i but will be developing something shortly
yes but see the kit from Turner is only an upgrade for the 325... not the 328.

development is always slow on this stuff but active autowerks has a test car right now and are fitting a supercharger to it so that MIGHT be the 1st one to come out. I think they are trying with a 330i but it would FIT on a 328, all you would need is a reflash to run it which i know is made somewhere (forgot where I saw it though).

It'll be expensive... trust me i know, but honestly 255hp isn't much over the 230 in a 328i. by adding that ecu reflash, an intake, short throw shifter kit and some headers/exhaust and you'd probably be close enough to the performance numbers of a 330i (in acceleration and speed, maybe not HP) that you couldn't tell the difference between the 2. if you want some zip to the 3 u have 2 options: buy a 335 or supercharge a 330 or 328.

I am sure that Turner would have no issue making the conversion work on a 328i. They just need to use the software from a Z4 3.0si or an X3 3.0si as a baseline. The 3.0si engines are both N52N engines just like that of the 328i.

well then get them to do it cuz the last i heard it was in "development" which is code for "wait a year and a half".

I'd be game to do the same thing to my 328, but a supercharger seems more likely at this point.

but Speedinnovation had a reflash for the 328 but I don't see it on their site anymore.

Bitchin factor scale...

Coupe > Sedan/SUV/Crossover > Wagon

Sedan is for business man whos boss won't pay any extra over the basic model.

Coupe is for the youngster who like to wear his cap back to front and have his pants halfway down his arse and pretend he is pimping in the hood. But we all know that Daddy bought it for getting good grades.

SUV, you buy it because you have a small dick so have to look big in other areas.

Crossover, you buy it because you have a small dick but also you are worried some nob in a coupe is going to call you soccer mum if you buy the wagon.

Wagon, well that is just for soccer mums!!

Wagon owner and proud!!

4 grand for 50 extra horse ? That's ridiculous. Buy a 335. You'll end up spending 4k and your car will still be slow.

I think you're missing my point, someone came in here asking why someone would spend money modding a car that was not a coupe, said it was a stupid idea and wagons are for soccer mums only.

I was trying to point out that being open minded is a great asset to have in life that will get you a lot farther then having stereotypical views about others.

I was being ironic.

It was in relation to this post.

Hmm, the fact he rated his car on a "Bitchin' factor scale...." probably means my tongue in cheek coupe driver summary probably does describe the guy pretty well to be honest.

hey... nothing wrong with wagons... sometimes you wanna drive fast and have fun/ sometimes you need to haul the groceries, sports equipment or your 110lb lab.

its the best of both worlds.

were talking about a bimmer here, not a mercury sable.... the owner obviously likes performance.

I had a 335i wagon before this one and it is better balanced than the coupe. I am just about to buy another coupe as I fancy a change, but like the wagon as there are not as many about and it does handle better.

I'm the OP would be all over it if a E91 335 was available on this side of the pond.

youre gonna be spending a ridiculous amount of money to swap your powertrain for your wagon. i wouldnt say its worth it. but if you really wanted to you could buy an N54 from a 335 with the twin turbo which def gives you more power, then go through the whole installation and and a lot of exhaust manifold modification, and at the end of the day you still have to change your software. Youre looking at a whole lotta money being spent (wasted). Thats not mentioning your warranty would most likely go down the drain. All this for ~50 hp....youre better off just changing your e91's intake, exhuast, suspension...all the basics. Thats much more cost-effective

The new STi is absolutely terrible. I test drove one and was truly disappointed with it. The car felt sluggish and like I was driving a boat.. I drove the new Evo X and was floored by the handling and response. Definitely night and day experience.

I haven't driven a mazdaspeed 3 yet, but I hear nothing but great things about them!
