Black spots on windshield? Oil?

Today after driving my car for only about 10 minutes, while I was at home I noticed some black spots on my windshield. I used my finger to see how easily they came out. Turns out they just wiped right off. Then I saw the same spots on my hood, then on the chrome pieces above the grill and finally some on the headlights. Because of how easily it wiped off I'm guessing this has to be oil.

Question is, why would I have oil splatter all over the front of the car. It's not a lot, but it's definetly noticable when you're looking. Is something wrong? I didn't get any errors on iDrive.

Maybe a car you were following was spewing oil or some other substance? Did you go under any bridges or overpasses?

That happened to me once as I was driving behind a flatbed that was carrying a wrecked car. I was several car lengths behind and still got it on my Windshield and hood.

You should was your car ASAP. If you lucky, it's just oil and not brake fluid or trans fluid.

Did you mean "clean" not "was?"

If so, already took a MF cloth to it. No worries either way because on Saturday pander5 (from this board) is coming over to detail my exterior.
