PDC Delivery

I'm debating the Performance Center delivery.
After reading everyone's post, it sounds like a blast, and definetely the way to go if you can do it. I just had a few questions though.

First off, can you do the delivery on the weekend? I'm thinking that it would fit my schedule best to arrive on a Friday and take delivery on Saturday; that way I'm home by Sunday evening.

Second, is there any additional cost? I couldn't find any mention of that on BMW's site.

Third, how far of a return drive did most of you have? I'm near Detroit, so looking at a 700 mile roughly 11 hour drive... debating if it's worth the drive, or if I should just take delivery at my dealership.

I haven't done it yet, but am scheduled to do so on 6/12 and had many of the same questions you did...

It is my understanding that they are not open on the weekends. My salesman said that the Friday and Monday delivery days are the most sought after and first to fill up for that reason.

No cost! However, since they have to have a slot available there can be a time delay in getting the car. In my case, I think I could have picked my car up from the dealer today or tommorrow, but have to wait almost another 2 weeks. I don't know if that time delay is typical.

I'm only driving back to the Atlanta Metro Area so not much mileage for me. I believe the break-in mileage is supposed to be 1,200 miles, so to me a long drive home sounds like an advantage! Be sure your drive home goes through Deal's Gap on Hwy 129 at the NC and TN border! Check out www.tailofthedragon.com and www.killboy.com for maps and photos!

The only downside for me is the delay in getting my car, but I think it will be worth it. I figure I'll be driving it for 10 years, so what's a couple of weeks. Another disappointment is that the factory tours are on hold right now because they are working on the new X5, so I only get to view the museum and watch the film. I did the factory tour back when they were making the Z3s and was looking forward to doing it again. Good luck!

Nmulax, I don't have an answer for you, but wanted to reach out to a fellow Detroiter. Good luck.

Beauderek, if you don't mind me asking, what dealer did you get your car from, and are you happy with them? I'm shopping prices right now, and will be ordering either Thursday or Saturday.
Once I get my car (hopefully mid July), we'll have to start up a Detroit get together for any e90 owners in the area.

If you intend to do PCD, you have practically the entire national network of BMW dealers to choose from. That might work to your advantage. Case in point, my local dealer does $500 over invoice deals all day with no BS fees (no MACO, training fees, exorbitant doc/processing fees etc)...

I am in the same situation. I will be there on June 12 as well. I don' think the delay is usually quite this long. I read somewhere on here that they were doing some work on the track at the PC, so they were not doing any PCDs at the beginning of June. 13 days and counting!

Track is still open June 1 as this is when I am doing my PCD.

I totally agree KL. My local dealer wouldn't even reply to my offer so I took my business out-of-state.... to Passport BMW in MD. I got the deal you mention in under 10 minutes over the phone. Best car buying experience I have ever had. I was working with Jim Redden initially but after Jim left the business, my order was handled by Yves Badji. Yves did a great job and as you certainly know he is a friend of this forum (I am so envious of your recent e90post gathering sponsored by Passport!)

If you are doing PCD then don't limit yourself to the local dealer. Be aware that some dealers with little competition in the area will not provide a loaner during service. This was a real issue for me but the way Passport handles sales convinced me they deserved my business loaner or not.

I, too, was lucky enough to deal with Yves. My 330 finished production a few days ago, but has not yet shipped. Am trying to set up PCD on July 3. I was told that they do not do deliveries down there on the weekends.

The nation is your oyster when it comes to shopping with PCD in mind. My local dealer played me from the start, so I looked east coast. Passport is awesome. I, too, regret not getting it local for the comfort/loaner priveleges, but I HATE being played!

You absolutely have to do it! Standard dealer delivery is like getting copper over gold from Performance Center Delivery. You may have seen my write-up (complete with pics) and I had a blast! I had a similar drive home --- 650 miles, about 11 hours and it was long but well well well freakin' worth it. If you break the trip up into two days like I did, it's not bad at all. Spent 75 bucks at a Sleep Inn and then did the other 200 miles the next day.

You won't regret it.

Yeah. A Detroit meet would be good. I think a Cedar Point meet would be great!!! I bought my car in the Chicagoland area because they had the best deal. (Bill Jacobs BMW in Naperville IL, my salesman was Chuck Stwora)They said they'd take 1500 to 2000 off the sticker. Nobody local would do that for me. I have been doing mods and stuff with Erhard in Farmington and they've been great.

Glad to hear you've been happy with the Erhard group... I ordered my car from their Bloomfield Hills store.

Ceder Point meet would be great; perfect location for the whole Great Lakes area.
