Seriously, the chirp sounds similar to Toyota chirps. The alarm is made by Tyco.

Seriously, who cares? Does that really matter? A chirp is a chirp and I can't imagine that there'll be mass confusion between toyota & bmw owners during simultanious lockings.

Does the convertible version does not come with an ultrasonic module? I received my alarm from Tischer a few days ago and its not there. Is that why its cheaper?

BTW, I am missing the instructions. They were not included in the box.

That is correct, the alarm kit for the E93 does not include an interior motion sensor. I would imagine that this is why BMW has priced it cheaper than the coupe/sedan kit. If you'd like a copy of the alarm installation instructions, give me your order number or e-mail address and I'll shoot it right over to you. Thanks for your support!

There are quite a few posts here and other forums about DiY for the OEM alarm, but it appears to be very easy, assuming your car came from the factory, pre-wired. So all you have to do is buy the parts, and plug them into the existing wiring connectors.

After you get all the parts mounted, the alarm should work, but not all the way.
If you want the 'armed' and 'dis-armed' chrip, and the clown-nose to blink, then the car's software has to be told that the alarm is now present, and that's an hours labor cost by a dealer.

Yup, dealer activation is typically required for full functionality. Shoot me a PM with your email address and I'll be happy to provide BMW's installation instructions for this alarm!
