MP3 CD Question

OK. I pick up my 330i tomorrow. I have done searches about burning MP3 Cds but seem to find conflicting information about format.

I have Nero and Roxio.

My question are (to get everything to show correctly on IDrive screen):

1. File names xxx - xxx.mp3
2. Format (Joliet, ISO9660, etc.)
3. ID3 tags
4. Folders?

Any help appreciated.

sminto, I heard you need to use ID3 tag version 1.x (1.2 is the latest). If you use iTunes you can convert your ID3 tags by selecting them, right clicking, and then choosing "Convert ID3 Tags."

You need folders if you want to organize your albums. I believe you can browse folders, so they function like playlists kinda.

Another thing is that I've heard you want to use quality CD-R/RW media, and burn at the slowest possible speed. I've read some folks burn at 2x. I've also read that some folks just burn like they haven't read any of the forums and listened to issues people have, and experience no skipped tracks.

My car isn't delivered yet so I have no experience with it, but I've been reading the Audio/Video forum nightly and this is what I've gathered so far. There may be some issues with it you don't have the latest software, CIP21 I believe is the latest/greatest.

I think if you have a CD Changer, you'll have less issues if any. Hope this helps.

Congrats on the pickup of your new car too!

2x? I have burned a buttload of discs at 48x and have NO issues with them. I used Nero to convert from CD and properly name the tracks on the fly. I'm finding that 192k produces a very high quality result.

Most of the posts here give good info. But the real trick in Nero is to set the MP3 disc up with the ASCII character set. Then, if you have good tags, the iDrive display will show very long MP3 tags.

I just burn my MP3 CD's as data with Nero, the filename shows up a little weird and I do have them in (Artist - Song Title.mp3) format, but it'll show up like 01JOEBUDD (and thats all you can see on the screen) until you select the song and it'll show the full name.
