Sound System Question

Would i be correct by saying that the e90 and e92 will have similar or the same sound system. I'm trying to decide whether i need to get some subs in my e92. i like hip hop and if the bass doesnt hit in the stock sound system i'll need some subs.

Yes, it will be the same and if you are contemplating any changes, remember that BMW connects components via the MOST bus.

What exactly do you mean by "standard head unit": do you mean the Multi Information Display?

I think he was referring to the stock head unit. Someone posted pics of replacing the subs underneath with 8". That would be sufficient unless you are bass hungry and it keeps everthing looking stock and not using any trunk space.

Well, there really is no stock head unit in the E90.

The Multi Information Display looks to the uninitiated like a head unit but it isn´t one.

It also cannot be replaced by a non BMW unit.

The underseat subs could be replaced - that is a good suggestion. Most stereo/hi fi installers don´t know how to work on newer BMWs so we have seen several horror stories posted here, incl. one car towed back to the dealership after an installation.
