Brisbane, Aus CIC retrofit issues
Hi all, a while back I bought the parts for a CCC to CIC retrofit and only just had the time to install it all. However, once all done, no matter what I try, the new CIC unit will not power on. There's no sound and the CID screen remains black.
I went ahead and did all the VO coding required and updated the CAS, FRM/NFRM, CID and KOMBI but no matter what I try (NCSExpert, INPA, ISTA, Tool32), nothing will connect or talk to the CIC. I've checked all the wiring and all the fuses (including the fuse on the back of the CIC unit) and everything checks out right. I know its getting power because when I turn on the cars lights, the backlight behind the on button comes on but the unit will just not power up. I even replugged back in the original CCC unit and bang, sound, beeps and alerts straight away and CID screen turned on (no picture because no input). I can only think that the actual CIC unit is dead. So, for the final check, I'm wondering in the off chance, is there anyone in Brisbane Australia with a spare CIC unit that I could just plug in to confirm that it is indeed my CIC unit that is dead. Thanks for any help. Shannon. |

Hi mate, yeah, checked and moved all the fuses around and swapped out the fuse on the back of the CIC unit

OK. Seems like there's no one local on here that has a spare CIC unit for me to try.
My next bet, is there anyone with a Professional CIC unit (preferably running C1A software) for sale at a decent price? Thanks for any help. Shannon. |

Try someone whos wrecking a E84 X1. All 2012+ units and some earlier ones which were updated by the dealer are C1A, but they kept making X1's with CIC until 2015, so they're a pretty good donor car for compatible C1A head units.

Thanks jzx_andy. I ended up going to the wreckers yesterday (right at the time you were posting this comment ) and picked a CIC unit from a 2011 E92 for $250 and bam, everything works except for navigation as expected. Unfortunately its not C1A so I'll start investigating script activation, or if that gets too difficult I'll just get an emulator.

But here's another extremely long shot, is there anyone in Brisbane with an ICOM cable that is able to plug into my car to update the CIC software to C1A for me?
