everyone is gettin error messages with the xenons, they say that if you turn on the lights before starting the car an error message will not pop up (or something along those lines) no big deal either way. But dankim, who has the module, chip, control unit whatever you want to call it......no error messages. as for the remapping, ive used this term with 3 different dealers in my area and its like im speaking a foreign language. i was told that the parts (chips, modules, whatever) that deal with the lights are built on the car and they have never had a problem with them. They say they dont even have access to getting them. they come with the car and thats it. as for a remapping, they cannot just hook a computer up to your car so that the light doesnt go on.......thats outta the question, no such thing. from what ive read this is the module u need to get to turn the light off, as for the Part number i dont have it handy, but on www.realoem.com there is the part. well like 8 parts all with the same part number with different combinations of whether the car is configured with xenons, alarm, blah, blah, blah. for example one part says "Xenons yes, Alarm NO", another says "Xenons yes, Alarm yes" same part number different part though? so i dunno where you get the exact one u need?

So it's confirmed that with the chip you don't get error msgs, but how do you install it and do you have to do some software stuff?

http://www.geocities.com/clsc510/image/retrofit.pdf

this document is for retrofitting non xenon to adaptive xenon ... donno where to find non adaptive

when it comes to car electronics and wiring i'm pretty stupid, so it doesn't help me -- but some of you dyi peeps, maybe this will help

i cant get that .pdf to load but the retrofit kit you can buy from germany is much different than what we are doing, the kit is $1870 and comes with the auto-leveling, in the instructions it also says you must buy a footwell module ($350) and a light module ($?), and the kit is for cars with headlight washers, so its basically 1850+350+light module+headlight washer retrofit=probably how much everyones dealer has been tellin us it costs to do the conversion $3k-$4K. i think ill stick without the headlight washers and a lil more money in my pocket for the beater i gotta buy in the winter
