Combox replacement - need coding?
Hi all, I'm new to the world of coding and I'm hoping you can help clarify something for me.
I'm planning to replace my defective combox on my 2011 328xi E90 with a similar, used one. My Bluetooth, USB and AUX stopped working. This is what I have on the car right now: S609A Navigation system S620A Voice control S639A Preparation f mobile phone cpl. USA/CDN S645A BMW US Radio S676A HiFi speaker system S693A Preparation BMW satellite radio S697A Area-Code 1 for DVD S6AAA BMW TeleServices S6ABA Control, Teleservices S6FLA USB/audio interface S6VCA Control, Combox Do I need to do some coding to get this working? These are the 2 comboxes I plan to swap. First one is on the car right now. |

Hm, funniest thing happened - I replaced the combox and everything seems to work again. BT, USB, AUX (this were broken before) + Navi, Radio, CD (worked before). Am I missing something? Didn't do any coding...

If the new unit came from a same spec car then practically nothing needs to be coded. To be safe, default code MEDIA. No other units need coding since you’re replacing a module with an identical module.

Hi there, I'm about to replace my Telematics combox too, but just wanted to ask, did you just swap out the units? Isa there any prep work needed, like disconnecting the battery, or order of plug removal/fit?

It really depends on what the donor car had for options. E series Combox was available in cars without CIC and these did not have BT music streaming. In this case, the combox needs to be default coded before it will work with a CIC.

How do you default code Media on the new combox? I have the same problem as the OP, bought a used combox with the same number, plugged it and now everything is in the menu (Aux working, USB working, but I cannot see the the BMW bluetooth on my phone when I try to pair my phone) and I have now a SOS error wich I didn't have with my old combox.

To default code any module:
1. Run NCS Expert with expert mode profile 2. Choose your chassis 3. Choose ECU you want to default code 4. Change job to SG_CODIEREN 5. Execute job |
