Even without coding EPS should work. If coding was right, check in Inpa if you can connect with EPS module. If not, check your CAN, and power supply wiring if you did everything right. If nothing works, there is probability that EPS module is faulty.

Check if everything is alright with power supply (maybe there is power missing - just loud thinking), even coding will not resolve heavy steering. Last thing coming to my mind is broken rack - from mechanical side. What year is your car? Maybe there is something going with activating FSC codes?

I think that's exactly where my problem is, I don't know how to activate the FSC codes

You'll have to check if this is even a case. FSC codes are since 09.2009, so if you have older car than that, everything should work without them.

Maybe check the coding year, because I see that you have 0910, I see also that you have CIC installed, I do have it also, and I'm running 0909 without issues, maybe that is the case?

I think that it will be not possible due to the xDrive drivetrain. I see even no option inside parts list.

Hi, i have been wanting to solve the heavy steering issue on my e46 for a long while. do you by any chance know whether the conversion will work on an e46 especially the coding part? or if will it work if i juct connect the power supply and the green wire to ignition (as from what i found that is the ignition wire)?
Thanks

I don't think that this will work due to different mechanicals of e46 and different electronics - EPS is working with plenty of other devices like DSC or SZL, and without communication between modules nothing will work probably.

Hi Ivan, quick question What belt did you use to run the pulleys after removing power steering rack and pump? Or did you keep the pump in place? If so how do you keep it so the pump stays lubricated? Thanks

I recommend to check on realoem or something similar what belt was used on your car, when it was equipped with CO2 package. If you need help, reach me out!

Hey ivan,
How did you setup the Pulley and Belt Drive ? Did you removed the Power Steering Pump ? And how does your belt drive look now ?

I was searching for N54 with EPS but I cannot find anything. You'll have to measure it by yourself and find suitable length of the belt. From what I can see, you will have to delete one bottom pulley and of course steering pump.

Fro CAN wiring - CAN is orange and green every time. If you want I can check exact wiring diagram if you want with specific pinout.

EPS did actually come with a N54 engine from factory in E89 Z4 35i (and Z4 35is). So you should use these parts:
  • E89 Z4 35i belt tensioner (P/N 11287571852)
  • E89 Z4 35i 7PK1470 belt (P/N 11287628654)

My question to the original poster Kolopn.
You have listed three softwares (INPA, WinKFP, NCSExpert). Is there a chance to reduce the software that is required for this conversion?
Currently I just have ProTool (from bimmergeeks). Any thoughts if I can use ProTool instead for some (or all) of these steps?

Im not familiar with ProTool, but I can see that you can input VO with that, so EPS after coding 1CB should be visible. Only thing that left is implementing VIN number into EPS - it can be done both with WinKfp while updating module or probably with Tool32 without flashing. But if you only want to make EPS visible, ProTool should be enough to put VO and coding. If you need any help with BMW Standard tools (so Inpa etc.) feel free to reach me out!

Did you use these two parts I listed above?
At the moment (without coding) is the steering heavy/not power assisted?
