Blue tooth phone book transfer question

It appears me the phone book transfer from your phone to the car computer only occurs at the initial pairing up of the phone and car.

Once this is done, any updates you made in your phone book (change of numbers etc) won't show up on the car phone book. Anyway to synchronize the phone and the car short of going through the whole pairing process again?

thanks,
-hkj

It seems to update silently when he phone reconnects to the car. This can take a couple of minutes to work.

When I was preening my phone phonebook to make it useable in my car, and making major changes to display names to aid their voice recognition, I noticed that within the first couple of minutes the car phonebook was working hard to keep re-sync.

From a technical standpoint, I suppose that it is POSSIBLE that some there COULD be compatilility issues with some models of phone which would cause theis resynchronisation to fail. However I have not seen any hints of this type of problems posted here.

what phone do you guys use?

Mine is a razr v3. I noticed the first time i set it up it takes a few minutes before I can access the in-car phone book. But on subsequent connections I can access the phone book right away. It almost seems as if the car caches the phone book in its memory upon the 1st connection. I'll experiment some more.

Plain Razr v3.
As usual all of the compatibility requiremnts probably come into play (progman 20+, RAZR firmware 40+ etc... see my replies in other threads for more details.

Yes the phonebook stays in the car, and is available soon after boot, but it will sync with the phone which may take a while to complete after conection. Hence changes may not be available for a few mins after phone connection to the car.
