Lighting still on after a few minutes

The Start/Stop button, and the shift indicator (auto) lights stay on for at least 5 minutes after I get out of the car. I noticed the glowing at night this weekend. I kept walking back out to see if it went off. The Start/Stop goes off first, and finally the shift indicator. What's up with that?

Nope, my two options were auto and satalite wiring. I just don't know why those two lights are necessary after everything else is off.

Garage List
Well think about it! The two most important things when the car is off are to be able to start it again and to know what gear it's in. The lights stay on so that you can see you left the car in park, and you can restart the car if you need to.

It's not abnormal...it's been this way for a long time...

They go out when the car enters the first phaze of Sleep Mode

These cars are pretty complex and switch things on and off at differing intervals

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with auto I can't start unless I am in park. And not stop teh engine unless in park, and can't move the shifter unless I have the key in place, ready to start.

I noticed that the other night as well. Learning so many things about the car and the design thoughts that went into the final product.

My first thought was that the lights will probably go off after a few minutes and that is was not an issue to be concerned about at all. In fact it looked quite good in an otherwise dark interior. 2 minutes later I forgot all about it.

I think it is just a little feature to impress owners/drivers.
