Nice write up man! I love how clean this setup looks, by far the best configuration / integration I have seen thus far. I have already burned through a Logic HVI, and am on BMS Dual cone setup, after seeing a few cars with this setup I am really tempted... Soo much money on intakes already though!

Very nice review, and very nice aesthetics indeed! The pictures look great, and I would probably want to make my hood see-through with the way that looks!

There's really no reason not to get the oiled filters...better air flow and clean & re-oil after ~ 30k mi.

Only thing I've noticed since driving it a bit more is that the intake sound is more pronounced. Any performance gain from adaptation since install is negligible.

Completely stock performance-wise.
To reiterate in case you misunderstood, I definitely noticed a difference in performance and throttle response when I first installed the intake. I haven't noticed anything else since that point except for sound improvement as it has been adapting. Kinda makes me wonder what I'm gonna need to do to properly "adapt" the stock intake once I put it back in to dyno tomorrow.

Put your car in 3rd gear, and go from 1500 RPM to 6500 RPM 3 times, without ever shifting. That is the quickest way for the DME to adapt.

I was told our cars are always in closed loop.
While going on a drive with Dustin @ Vishnu I heard that the 3rd gear pulls will make it adapt fast.

I think the design is shit. Clearly constrained by the design specs of the stock cowl. One pipe sucks in competition with the other, reducing effective surface area.
I'd do away with the scoop, heat shield etc and run them as far apart as possible. If you wanted to be really sneaky modify an M3 bonnet to fit a meshed breather around the bump and draw fresh air in from the top - maybe an intake like the wrx's have... |
