To remove the knob itself. Just pull up. Careful not to smack yourself in the face when it comes off. Also make sure you are not pushing the release button down on. Just yank up and it will come off with some force.

put it in park, and pull up. not very hard. mine came off fairly easy

also the shift knob can be removed without taking the boot off right?

so the boot does pop out like the manual video? i pulled hard and i feel if i pull any harder somethings going to tear . just want to make sure.

This is easy. I have done it a hundred times. Pull up on one of the corners of the boot. I too thought it would tear but it won't. It is leather. Also, I have found that by pulling up just a bit ( to the point of resistance) on the rear corner and then pushing with other hand toward the shifter that the clip unhooks and then VIOLA,..its off.

i just did this and the whole black plastic part came out. the black plastic part with the park, drive, reverse, etc. i pulled up on the boot like you guys say but instead got the whole piece.

how does the boot itself come off the black plastic piece now? i pull and pull and nada...

it's glued on so you work your way around it slowly.

if the boot is glued onto the black piece what do i do when i want to put it back in? so it's not like the 6mt where the boot snaps out?

it should have 'tabs' but it's originally glued in. Mine was like that and then I used to just "snap" it back in.
