335i went poop
Was driving my completely stock 335i today. Stepped on the gas at one point, got reduced power on idrive and CEL. Arrived at my destination, shut car down, restarted and got the power back but still the service engine soon light.
Got it to the dealer. 2008 335i e92 6002mi. Any ideas?? HPFP?? |

A tip: regardless you run your 335i stock or tuned you should have a C reader diagnostic tool in the glovebox just in case ![]()

Thanks to the corn lobby and our government it will soon be everywhere. Here in GA the stations all changed over a few months ago. We are seeing 25-50 less miles per tank but the car still seems to run OK.

good thing about ethanol is its equal to about 120-130 octane.... problem is it takes a lot more of it because of its heat of vaporazation. So you get worse gas mileage.

In addition, our cars are going to wear down faster... it's a consumer nightmare. The EPA & Dept of Transportation haven't spent the time (and tax dollar money to pay their salary) to see the overall picture.
Like seriously, the 'excuse' made for the MPG revision for 2008 is ridiculous; reality check is needed for everyone to read the facts: http://www.fuel-testers.com/list_e10_engine_damage.html The sooner our engines cause problems for us, the more often we'll be seeking to repair our vehicles (more money for the mechanic/stealership industry) OR the more often we'll be buying cars .... this is some democracy for sure.

pretty sure Shell still doesn't use Ethanol. I use Shell 93 octane exclusively, except the other day I had to put a few gallons of Chevron 93 (with 10% ethanol) in since Shell was out of gas

I would say that ethanol is the cause of most of the HPFP problems you guys in the states are having. After getting back from Iraq, i would say 6 guys here have new 335i's including myself and have yet to have any HPFP problem and thats probably due to the fact that Germany doesnt allow ethanol to be mixed into the fuel. One other thing, Germany made it law that 87 octane gas will not be avalible at any gas station starting 2009. So all we have here is 90 and 93 octane.

I had forgotten about this thread. If it makes any difference, they changed the injectors in the car as well. Don't know how the car ran afterward, I traded it in while they were still working on it. M3 BABY!!!
