newbie questions

Hi All,

This is my 2nd post if you count the hello..

Could any one answer the following two questions :

1) I need an oil top up, is going to the dealer for a 1l bottle the best or should I order somthing else and if so what oil woould you all reccomed for an auto 335i ?

2) I think my car is stock was bought from sytner and the strange thing is it's a bit rapid against the E46 m3 (coupe, smg I/II, Saloon). I pull away in first from them. and through 2nd, but by then im gone. is this normal ? - has it been remapped , or ecu piggy backed - in regards to the latter i have checked but their is no extra box there.

I've checked it out on google etc, and you tube but the evidence is 50/50

3) how highly do you all rate the EBC pads, the ones for fast street use ?

Cheers all,

You will just pull away from an E46 m3 anyhow. So sounds right for a stock 335i.

Cheers all,

To answer your questions in order -

1) It's not entirely necessary to go back to BMW, but if you do then at least the oil is the same all the way through. If you need a third-party oil then you need to get a fully synthetic BMW Longlife LL04 spec 0W-30 oil (from Castrol preferably)

2) That's normal - you have a quick car, and it's no surprise you'll pull away from an E46 M3.

3) Honestly, EBC pads??? Um, in a few words, not very good at all.... The Greens are too weak for the weight of our cars, the Reds have no progression and suffer from fade under harder repetition... If you want replacement pads, wait a month for the new Pagid pads (421 and 422 fast road pads), or Ferodo DS2500

PS... Welcome to the forum !!!

EDIT - Pagid pads now available for the 335i/d OEM FRONT brakes...

T1596 Front Brake Pad Set
Pagid EAN # 4007590087868
Pagid Trade # 23347, 24161

REAR pads to be available middle of October

T1494 Rear Brake Pad Set
Pagid EAN # 4007590074059
Pagid Trade # 23550, 23551

Welcome!!

I went to the dealers for oil and its was Castrol and reasonably priced

The 335i is very fast even in stock form, so everything sounds to be working normally
