My 335i Dyno numbers *bone stock*
SAE corrected, 3 runs, 93 degrees out, 15% humidity. I'm happy with the numbers.
I rode in a friend's v3 earlier this evening, and wow the power is smooth. almost deceivingly quick. i like it alot! But my car is in at the dealership because of weird engine noise, maybe turbos, wastegate, who knows. maybe there's a cricket in there after all. here is the link to the situation. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=174283 I think these numbers are pretty normal. ![]() ![]() |

Why did you wait until 3200RPM to go WOT?
Cheers

Nice SAE numbers.
Yeah the dyno operator started it late. Should of been around 2000 rpm. But don't believe BMW, you will NOT get max torque at 1400 rpms. If you tried to do a dyno pull starting at 1200 rpms in 4th gear, you'd get nothing but bogging for the first 800-1000 rpms anyway. Peak torque on dynos seems to arrive around 3500-3800 rpms anyway. You might of seen a bit more torque numbers had they started the pull at 2000-2300 rpms and gotten on full boost by 3000 rpms, but to be honest 276 rwtq is right on par for SAE stock numbers so I'd say you aren't "missing out" on any torque values anyway. Weird how they let off the throttle at 6500 rpms too. Maybe they didn't have their tach pick up set up accurately. If that was the case and they were off by 400-500 rpms, the runs would of started at 2700 rpms then too. |

Yeah I think he let off a little early toward the end. I was not the driver on the dyno, and i didn't look at car's actual rpm. I suppose they could of started the dyno around 2,000 rpm, but oh well. I'm happy. Next time I dyno (which won't be stock ![]() |

I've done many dynos on 335's and at 1200 rpms in 4th on the dyno rollers, you are near stalling and the car bogs like crazy then. I've been able to be well under 2000 rpms (like 1500-1600 rpms) though without much issue. Either way, peak torque seems to occur well above 3000 rpms (usually 3500-3700 rpms). I just don't know how BMW got away with saying that peak torque occurs at 1400 rpms. In any case, as I stated, it's doubtful he'd of gotten anymore torque on his dyno. Maybe, maybe a couple if dyno was started earlier, but doubt it. He would of just seen a bit more of a torque plateau earlier in the rpm range. |
