Basic DIY Tools list...

Not sure if this is the right forum but my questions is what you guys might recommend for a basic E92 DIY tool inventory. I have a 10 piece metric socket set and a small assortment of individual metric wrenches. Sears is having a 50% off sale this weekend and I want to complete an inventory of what I might need for various DIY projects on my ride.

Anything you guys can recommend for must have tools for our cars would be great.

Thanks for anything you can offer.

Oil filter cap wrench not a bad idea either. The straps just tear up the plastic cap otherwise.

Definite absolute essentials are a good metric socket set and a Torx driver set. You can do most DIYs with just that.

You can never have enough tools, I suggest picking up one of those case sets with metric sockets and wrenches.

All kinds of wrenches and sockets are worth picking up if you find a good deal -- you never know when some configuration is going to come in handy.

Some slightly less common (for a homeowner) ones you'll see called for are crow's-foot wrenches and flare-nut wrenches. Also, you can never have too many extensions or U-joints. Hex (Allen) and Torx sockets are great. I haven't used E-Torx yet but they're next on my list.

As for BMW-specific tools flip through the DIY's or check out Bavarian Autosport's tools listing for your model -- it's pretty useful.
