E90 jack points
Has anyone found if the E90 has a good rear-center jack point? I found a thread for the E46... does the E90 have a similar setup?

Kinda related to this - I was jacking up my car to paint the calipers, and was using a normal trolley jack. I used a piece of wood between the jack and the plastic jacking point under the car.
But can you get something proper to do this job? And am I ok with something that just sits on the bottom of the plastic jacking point, or do I need something to go inside it? |

I was afraid a flat jack pad across the plastic "box" would crush the plastic, so I cut a piece of wood that fit in the hole and then let my jack rest on that. I guess that a flat jack pad would probably be OK in hindsight though...

I have had some scary experiences with jacks, on my last car while painting the calipers my car fell off the jack! Thank God nothing was damaged but only a few weeks after that I watched a friend jack up his car and he ended up on a non designated jacking point and put a hump in the floor of his backseat! Man was he pissed.... Oh well I guess what I am saying is that I do not have such good luck around jacks and lifts for that matter also as I watched someone lift up a friends car at the dealership using the side skirts of his car as opposed to proper enforced lift points, to make a long story short the dealership ended up having to order new side skirts for his car...

Yowch AW330I!! I'd be going mental if a garage jacked up a car like that!!
My brother-in-law once jacked up his Ford Fiesta by the rear bumper to change a wheel - miraculously it held, he got the wheel changed and didn't damage anything!! I was gobsmacked!!!! |
