now now, this is how the fights start. Take the high road and let the products speak for themselves and ignore all blind evangelists(on both sides).

How about one from me? Today it finally stopped raining and I got a chance to rip around with the Stg 3 map. Running this map, my car dyno'd at 390whp on 91oct last week. I've dyno'd at that number before with other maps. But never has the car accelerated so fiercely in any gear, in any RPM. Before, in order to get cheek clenching (lol) acceleration, I always had to wring it out (keep revs above 5000rpm and shift at close to redline.) Not I'm getting strong acceleration by just short-shifting. This isn't an illusion or a mind trick as some have suggested. This can be verified by a datalogging as well.

But what I find most addicting about the new maps is the way I can get on the throttle earlier and more confidently when exiting a cornering. With "old school" non Torque Targeting mapping, there was this "rubber band" effect that was typical with turbo engines where you get on the gas, the boost builds at which point you had to lift off the gas a bit to keep torque-to-the-wheels constant. It's something you just got used to when driving a normal turbo car.

But the 335 isn't a normal turbo car. Even in stock form, there is little or no rubber band effect. Basically feels like a bigger engine once revs are above 2500rpm. But when tuned, things changed. Sure, the car made more power when you pressed the throttle. But it also had a noticea power response nonlinearity/inconsistency. And it was something that we just lived with for 2 years. Nothing offensive or unpleasurable. But it was there. That is gone now. Basically back to stock-like power response x 2. And it gives the car a whole new feeling. It feels good and we're not going back. These BMW engineers were on to to something when they developed the boost control system for these cars. It's tied into EVERTHING. From throttle activity, VANOS activity and fuel/timing mapping. And now we are actualy working with it, instead of against it. This is why everything feels so nice now.

I had a opportunity to go out today and conduct my own assessment of the stage 0 map with 93 octane in 22f weather. As you’ve read a few times before the car pulls very hard all the way to red line. The throttle is also easier to modulate. I cant wait to try the stage 3 map next week if the roads/weather permit. Even on slick roads the car wasn’t jumpy, in fact, I felt that it was easier to control.
What really brought a smile to my face was when I was cruising at 80mph and then decided to mash the throttle, the car responds instantly and the traction control lights up as if the car was in 1st or 2nd gear! I thought to myself, “this is the stage 0 doomsday map, what is stage 3 non-doomsday going to feel like?” Then I thought to myself, perhaps the weather has something to do with the lack of traction. I pulled over switched to the 11-14 stage 0 non-doomsday map and I couldn’t get the TC to light up! So I know that this was not just psychological.

I really look forward to seeing the full non-doomsday stage 3 map at work.

Shiv, I really have to congratulate you on your system, I’m amazed at how much power your able to extract while working with the stock ecu and leaving the car’s failsafe system alone and on top of it all, allow the end-user a to self tune the system to their own mods and performance tastes. The car doesn’t act like a modified car, its not jittery or jumpy, it just feels like the car grew some more cylinders.

Great job Shiv, cant wait to see what the future holds.

Shoot me your email. There are a lot of different rattlefix permutations that we can use. Make sense since there are a few difference scenarios that cause the wastegate rattle. I can send you some variations to try out. Easy to fix.

Shiv if you could post a review thread detailing the wastegate actuator rattle problems that would be most useful.

I loaded up the Stage 0 6MT map tonight and WOW!!! I thought the old map was quick (well, it was over stock comparatively) but this is sick fast. Never saw my DTC lamp flash so often. We have dry conditions in Tampa and air temp is at 70 F. Did a quick 15 minute run just to feel it and it's a mind blower. I like to keep it in the rev power range between 3000 - 5000 and this is so much quicker than my old map. It feels like more instant power getting down fast. Did some 2nd to 3rd runouts and then one run up to 100. This thing is sooo fast to 100 now.

Buying Michelin stock tomorrow!

Thanks Shiv.

I loaded this new map up on Tuesday evening and I am also very impressed. I went from the September Stg 0 non-doomsday to this Stg 0 doomsday map and was amazed at improvement in accelleration and accelleration smoothness. I've never really had much of a problem with the traction control light and now I finally do, thank you Shiv!

My only problem now is the snow on the ground now so I'm unable to continue 'testing' this map until things clear up a bit.

If Shiv's explanation of the the new maps is smoke and mirrors as others have said, and if there is a noticeable increase in performance (evidenced by Vince's back to back runs with both maps) then there is only one other alternative - Shiv is doing a misdirection to send other tuners on a wild goose chase while he chuckles to himself and stealthily ramps up performance. Scary for the competition if true.

But then . . . see my sig.

I have a bunch of datalogs that I can post. Not sure how interesting they will be unless you know what to look for. Just curious, being a JB3 owner yourself, why do you care? I don't see you asking for data from jb3 beta testers who are running the 1.2 chip that will probably be in your own car in a month. There are probably 4 threads right now from people saying how "scary fast" it is. Go to work!

hahaahaa.......That's laughable and hypocritical considering how little to no data is given by Terry on his JB3. Seems like a larger portion of JB3 users spend a lot of time here trying to undermine anything "PROcede" related when in all honesty they should be addressing Terry's datalogging capabilities, which at present amounts to ZERO.
Try Again !
