Bill Me Later Plan
There's a lot of merchant's and companies selling in our forum.
Would it be nice if they have a Bill me later plan on their website. You don't have to use your credit card or other forms of payment. They offer 3 to 6 to 1 year of payments on your bill. But this depends on how much you purchase. More info on the link below. https://www.billmelater.com/about/index.xhtml Last edited by level 1; 01-11-2009 at 07:48 PM.. |

Use your credit card. And then you can pay in installments. No company is going to consider something like this because it leaves them unprotected should you defualt. If you don't pay a company in California, they're not goint to fly to NJ to pursue it legally. An they don't want to sell the debt to a collection agency at 1/2 the price either.

The only merchant that I'm aware of that uses "Bill Me Later" is TireRack.
I have an account with them myself. you don't need to be financially challanged, sometimes it makes sense. I use it when I'm between paychecks and I have to have something NOW! I simply just pay it off when I get payed. I don't like to use my CC's very much at all. I have low to 0 balances, and I'd like to keep it that way. I realize that BML is pretty much the same as CC, but I just don't like using my cards. I only keep them for my credit rating anyways.

normtrum,
Same thing here. I don't want to use my credit card especially on online purchases. I have a bad experience on this. I don't know how they got my CC and put in $2000 worth of merchandized. |

I've actually used it twice with TireRack....once with $1200 worth of tires, and some H&R sways.

I think everybody is happy in their method of payment.
I'm just trying to give some tips for safer transaction on line. Some companies that participate give some discount. |

Today, anybody with fair credit and a pulse can drive a BMW, and accessorize it. We have leasing. It's not about what makes sense, it's about possession. So although you and I believe one should be in a good financial place prior to buying a BMW (because there are many fine alternatives that cost far less to purchase and operate), we're in the minority. |

I didn't say I don't use them, I said don't use them much. In this case, sure it helps you. If you have a high limit, say 15k, and a very low balance, say 1k or less, and you've made on time payments at more then the minimum, then you're golden.

Many of us don't carry a balance on credit cards, but I have to admit, there still is a tendency to spend more with one. When it's cold hard cash, we think twice about a purchase. |

thats a stupid idea. always ALWAYS pay in full. even for financially challenged people. I seriously don't understand others that doesnt pay their CC in full. It's not free money. It like a snow ball...a 1k CC debt turns to 2k in no time

That is absolutely false.
If you have a credit card you never use and close the account, you will actually hurt your credit. I know it sounds messed up, but here is why. About 30% of your credit score is made up of your capacity, or how much you owe/ how much credit is available. The lower the amount owed over the amount available the more points you get. By closing a credit card you are actually making the ratio higher, which gets you less points. If anyone wants information about how your credit score is calculated let me know and I can give you more information.

Unfortunately the way credit scores work, if you want to have a high credit score....say above 800, you have to have credit cards. And yes, the problem with this is that people let their balances get out of hand, start paying the minimum amount, and a nasty cycle begins that can be pretty hard for some people to get clear of.
